What can a 1,000-year-old cathedral teach us about the future of energy? At @yorkminster.bsky.social, solar panels are helping to reduce the building’s electricity costs by around one-third, allowing it to reinvest in the Minster’s other projects.

Gillian’s electric car can be charged during the day using the solar energy generated on the roof and guests can use the charger too. 🚗⚡ As bills rise, her 12 year old investment seems pretty smart today!.

Nick has been installing heat pumps for five years, after retraining with @heat-geek.bsky.social. Today, around 95% of Duo’s work is heat pumps. Get the design right, and comfort can become something you barely have to think about.⚡️

For Nick, the magic is in the design. Size a heat pump around the home using an accurate heat-loss calculation, and it can quietly do its job in the background.🏠️ An outdoor sensor responds to the weather, while an app gives you control.

Electric vehicle sales targets could be cut after pressure from car makers
The government says it is considering cutting the new electric car sales target from 80% to 50% by 2030.

EVs are better to drive, cheaper to run, better for air quality and a huge opportunity for British industry. Instead of easing targets, let's make switching easier: more affordable EVs, better charging, bigger incentives and more confidence. 🚗

If Britain is serious about building a future beyond oil and gas, we can't stop at generating clean electricity. We need to help people use it. Watering down the ZEV mandate may buy time today, but it risks slowing the transition. ⚡️
