Earlier, I watched a squirrel in a tree taunting a neighbour's cat. The squirrel appeared to be thoroughly enjoying itself. Not so the cat, which was frantic to get at the squirrel but couldn't suss out how; the leap from the roof it was on to the branch where the squirrel was was just too great.

Liverpool Central Library holds a copy which was bought by the Corporation of Liverpool when it was first published by James Audubon. The book is displayed in a climate-controlled case. Every day, the librarians turn the book to a new page. I think I have seen them all now. Every page is beautiful.

I've never liked Coldplay, but there are far worse bands. E.g. Mumford & Sons. I once rejected a candidate for a job as my assistant who admitted to being a huge fan. I couldn't imagine working closely with someone with such shit taste in music. The HR lady, a metalhead, agreed with me!

I had an extremely large black tomcat who, given the chance, would have made a serious attempt to eat a gazelle. We kept goats & I'd often find him stalking them. He never made a rush, though; he probably knew the females would have butted or stomped him to death if he attacked one of their kids.

Just proves that he's for sale to the highest bidder, and probably always was; just up to now, the offer was never high enough. But now he can rake it in as the human shield for a hated company. "Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others" Groucho Marx/Tom Watson

I wouldn't personally, but I can see the attraction of avoiding the Avanti West Coast trains experience. I travelled on trains in the old Soviet Union that were cleaner, more reliable & had more pleasant, friendly & helpful (i.e. less harassed, mistreated & overworked) staff onboard.

Waiting (with bated breath) for Waterstones Liverpool to email me that the copy I ordered is in, so I can go and collect it. Hoping it's today, as I have a potentially unpleasant and painful dental appointment this afternoon and may need cheering up afterwards.

If you see this post a witch
Witches' Sabbath by Francisco Goya
Satan, in goat form surrounded by a coven of young and old witches in a moonlit barren landscape. The goat has large horns and wears a wreath of grape leaves. On the right, an old crone holds an extremely starved-looking but apparently still-living infant, while a younger witch to her right does the same with a healthier-looking child, implying they will follow the same fate.

It's the latest desperate bid for relevance (& clicks) by the mainstream media, especially the BBC. Give massive publicity to a racist minority obsession. Then wring your hands at the spread of racist & far-right notions into the political mainstream. Rinse & repeat.

The Scala Cinema was good in the early '90s...... (I dunno if it's any good these days; I haven't been for years. But back in the day I saw some truly weird and wonderful films there, especially at their midnight movies, where I often saw some truly weird and wonderful punters as well.)

To my utter astonishment, Badenoch has said something I agree with. Her comments about the vileness & stupidity of Reform MPs claiming Black people are not English are spot on. Reform is a party of racists, crooks & idiots. Just about everything else she ever comes out with is garbage, however.

Don't forget the pledge to give vast sums to the rich - a key policy for both parties. The only real distinction now is that Reform is slightly more openly racist & unsparing in support of organised crime (crypto) What a joy it will be to be a rich crook if Badenoch or Farage ever make it to No. 10!

This thread illustrates the kind of "healthcare" that Reform want to let loose in Britain with their plan to end the NHS. We already have plenty of grifters preying on the sick & desperate. Farage, organised crime's political proxy, wants to make real healthcare unaffordable & let scammers loose.

I grew up on a farm with old buildings, i.e. many places for rats to hide. If we didn't get on top of the rats & stay on top, they'd take over. Terriers, especially Jack Russells, were a very effective solution. Not only are they lethal to rats, they are also appealing, high-energy, little dogs.
