I've learned that many undergrads aren't quite aware of the extent of the labor and env exploitation behind AI - the data annotation workers, the human labor behind "autonomous" tech, and the scale of env/climate pollution.

We stand by and reiterate our call to boycott the New York Times. Their role in enabling trans genocide is immense, and we cannot stand by idly. Additionally, we stand with those before us who have called to boycott the Times over their complicity in the genocide in Gaza. Boycott and Divest NYT!

Ever popped a vitamin B12 supplement? 💊 It turns out microbes need their B vitamins too, and they’re not always easily obtained. B vitamins are built, bartered, and burglarized in microbial communities. 🦠 (1/3) #microsky #SynCom

I maintain that generative AI is very much inherently bad, and extremely useful for the worst, most toxic applications A system that convincingly fabricates content with no designed drive towrads accuracy or ethics of humanity is not "useless". You can use it for lying, fakery, cheating, abuse

Climate change is causing increasing blooms of toxin-producing algae, and it’s causing dementia in dolphins. There’s evidence that human exposure to these algae blooms - you can even breathe in the toxins from nearby land - is causing similar brain damage in addition to other harmful health effects.
