I think knights are making a resurgence in wips and books bc so much of romantacy is lacking true YEARNING, so we’re reverting back to the classic love-each-but-can’t-say-it knight tropes to swing that pendulum back

NEW — After putting all Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS) employees on administrative leave Monday, I'm told DOGE is canceling congressionally-appropriated grants to state libraries across the entire country. Libraries are getting notice that funding was canceled as of 4/1. More here:

I really want to write low-stakes cozy fantasy stories but I keep running into the problem of feeling like I have no plot. Is anyone able to recommend short cozy fantasy novels/stories? I think I need to expand my experience with the cozy fantasy genre and that might help 📚💙 🌈📚 #writingcommunity

Sooo if I start a substack focused on nature, including nature facts, recommending and reading eco-fantasy novels (esp. w/ queer characters), would that be something people are into…? Additionally: do you, as a reader, prefer to read blog posts or substack articles? Why or why not? 📚💙 🌈📚 #writing

Me too! I love soft female characters, but I’ve seen multiple TikTok videos/comment sections along the lines of “but if she’s soft and can’t wield a sword, then she’s useless in a fantasy world” and I have soooo many feelings about that

Blog post ideas I’ve had: + commitments to mediocrity + why soft female characters aren’t useless + what everyone gets wrong about Zutara …do any of these sound like interesting reads to anyone?

I’m seeing a lot of concern about publishing and queer books right now. I can’t emphasize this enough: Write. Your. Queer. Books. There will ALWAYS be readers who want/need them. Don’t lose hope. Your stories are wanted. Your voice matters. Keep writing 🌈❤️
