I heard it’s #AntarcticaDay! Hope you wanted a thread of my sketches related to the Ross Antarctic Expedition (1839-43) because that’s what you’re getting! Here is Francis Crozier wrangling emperor penguin chicks.

A line drawing of a man with short curly hair, wearing a heavy naval coat and gloves, with a baby emperor penguin under each arm. He looks disgruntled at this situation

Common Grackle doing its best Dracula impression. Gracula I guess? #birds 🌿

A dark bird with iridescent blue and purple feathers stands on the edge of a bird feeder, looking directly towards that camera with wings spread. This pose makes it look rather intimidating and like a vampire

Not MY blue art but here is a painting reportedly done by James Ross during the Antarctic expedition (Or as he might say… azure)

A watercolor painting of men walking around a whole cut in Antarctic ice. In the distance there is a ship, and a “sun dog” flare in the sky. The painting is monochromatic blue. It is mounted on a paper saying “done by Sir James Ross at the furthest south reached by the HMSS Erebus and Terror
