BareBones runs, in great part, on the love hours of 400-500 volunteers to put on 4 performances. (And the “paid” staff don’t get paid nearly enough cash money, and also donate hundreds of love hours) Our city is what it is cuz of all the love hours so many give to our orgs. ❤️

It is amazing! My friend has made progress & is connected to helpful resources, & is being told that cooperative ownership is feasible. But, much work still needed. Having more tenants with the skills & desire to help with all the communication,writing, connecting with powers that be etc is needed.

I rode home, river road to greenway. On the greenway between Mhaha Avenue and Hiawatha, a SPEEDING CAR comes careening car comes down the greenway straight at me! Swerving all over the greenway! I got out of the way faster than you would think an elder dyke could, and it zoomed past me. 😳

Autumnal bliss ride had so much drama! TWICE, after I disembarked, the trike took off ON ITS OWN! Both times the wheel was turned so it went on a curved path & crashed into an inanimate object (like the Mhaha Falls stone wall). Now researching & turning Terror the Trike OFF when I get off. THEN...

Thanks for this update! I’ve been using the 17th Ave. bike Boulevard to go south towards Mhaha pkwy. But the western side of that Avenue is so fucking bumpy! I need to try Park and Portland again. Closer to my house too.

Kids with medical issues should not be flagged as chronically absent. They should have an IEP with accommodations and adaptations and extra support.

The headband idea and foam idea are a good combo. Or find a smaller box that fits the head more closely and cut off most of one side for the front and secure that into this box. And then use foam inside the smaller box to make it comfortable and fit snuggly.

Coaches go through trainings right? Hopefully trainings include appropriate communication avenues? I’m a retired special ed teacher and witnessed several colleagues going through false allegations, some of which included private communications (just private, not inappropriate)

Yes, not appropriate . It could be completely innocent. But the coach should know that they are potentially putting themselves in danger, in addition to it (of course ) being inappropriate for the youth. Communication with youths should always be in some kind of shared format with parents.

I’m a creaky 69 year old 5’9” woman. The riverview seats are not uncomfortable for me, and they are not excessively hard for me to stand up from. The riv aesthetic & vibe is SO worthy of “not fancy” amenities. Your FIL might adore the time travel aspect.

Thanks for fine list of villains. I lived through the Beth Hawkins and Bernadette years as a teacher. There were more so-called progressives in our community who happily participated in the anti-union Teacher hatred. Some are here on Bluesky. It was so vile. Being a teacher is so hard.

Facebook marketplace. So many seniors buy trikes and then get scared when they ride the trike and just get rid of it. You have to overcome the feeling that you’re going to tip over when your back wheels are not on a level surface. I adore triking!

i was over 50 when I saw my first moose! It was a dream of mine to see moose. With these 2, in Rocky Mountains a few weeks ago, I have now seen 7 moose. One was accidentally way too close! (Bull in glaciar). They were all just right place right time kind of things. No planning could’ve produced it.

One time i went to 807 about some hr issue… I was on steroids cause I had cancer and getting chemo. I ranted and raved throughout 807 & kept demanding to see everyone’s supervisor. Eventually I landed in Bernadia Johnson’s office, & I rented & raved at her. fucking miracle I didn’t get fired.

It’s a domino thing. If the charter school movement/school choice had never occurred, many thousand of families (& lots of money) would still be part of MPS. And that would’ve made an almost incomprehensible improvement of the system for all the families/kids who wanted to stay, but could not.
