There is an actual Republican Party of Alberta + Alberta separatists boasting on social media no one can stop them because they have the US behind them. Some of the minority in Alberta who want to leave Canada do want to join the US. This fits nicely into US expansion/ colonization notions.

We're about to go on our first major trip in several years and it will be to other parts of Canada I haven't visited, including Niagara Falls, the Laurentians & Toronto. I suspect some of that rental price fixing that opens the book sample I just browsed was part of the surge in rental rates here in Vancouver, BC. With our unaffordable housing to purchase, over half of city residents are tenants. Corporate buyup of rental stock also drove runaway inflation. ⬇️
