Today we said goodbye to Moose. He was the best guy who: -loved scratches from old men with worn hands -bathed lovingly in the Texas sun -slept in when it suited him -looked forward to Thanksgiving turkey -kept our cat in line -kept perhaps too nosy watch over the neighbors -loved us unconditionally

And don't sleep on the author's photo. David Pawster Wallace is going places.
Back cover image with the word "Jeff" repeated a lot and an image of a black cat with a white headband.

The customer reviews nail it.
1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously disappointing AND misleading

Wasted potential. Seriously disappointing AND misleading. Its only FINITE Jeffs, which shoots down the idea right away. Author could've gone *at least* for some recursive acronym (David Foster Wallace loved acronyms it seems) like J.E.F.F. = J.E.F.F's Entertainment Facility Fascinates. Apparently this references an "entertainment cartridge" in the story that is so entrancing die from watching it. That's actually kinda clever, and that's just from having Claude write an acronym for me since I don't know much about the story. Think about the possibilities with a little extra effort...that will now never be anything but a FINITE sequence of Jeffs.

Oh, we know. And the "temporarily" part is quite optimistic, really.

I'm pretty content living in this valley, I think.

All his frontispieces are just as crazy! Left: his trans of Thucydides. Right: the one to De Cive
The cover to Thomas Hobbes' translation of Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War, showing visual representations of the Athenian side (right) and Spartan side (left). Frontispiece to Thomas Hobbes' book De Cive, showing a division between divine order (top) and world order (bottom), as well as a left-right division between well ordered government (left) and anarchic liberty (right). In the middle is the Latin text of Proverbs 8.15.

What a pleasure to celebrate the book with friends and family! (And a buffet with merguez, berkoukes, stinky cheeses, rillettes, and wine!)
