How much does it cost to go Amsterdam -> Leer by train. Well don't as NS (Dutch Railways). NS: That's international we don't do that. Go to NS International. NS International: That's on the OV Chipkaart [sic] we don't do that. Oh no! Worse NS International in […] [Original post on todon.eu]
ns.nl showing no trains from Amsterdam to Leer. Linking to nsinternational.comnsinternational.com does not have prices for trains from Amsterdam - Leer because you can use the 'OV Chipkaart'. It lists trains via Groningen, but also via Bad Bentheim and Obehrausen.A suggested route from nsinternational.com using the ICE to Oberhausen and change to the IC to Leer, where it will not sell you a ticket as you don't need an international ticket and can use the 'OV-chipkaart' to check-in and out.

Having seen the awful before/after Gaza 'postcard' drone image I thought I'd check it. Managing to get two identical shots. With buildings lining up so well. It's stark. Yes it's faked. THE REALITY'S WORSE if I understand the description here […] [Original post on todon.eu]

Vidin. Romanian train on Platform 2, in its separate cage, still. Hungarian trains on the other platforms 3... next to it. I'm sure someone can say what the previous life of this train was. Very tall (Swiss?) windows, now cracked. Diesel because Romania. You can […] [Original post on todon.eu]
Vidin station with the diesel Romanian train on the nearest platform, and part of a much older electric Hungarian train on the next platform.

Probably the even less used Danube crossing Hungary - Romania. Some up to date pictures if you want @jon cc-0 Just one train a day, it's not perfect for connections. Not that the Hungarian side is great either. The bus from Sofia was pretty good though […] [Original post on todon.eu]
Interior of Vidin - Craiova train. Looking towards the drivers cabin. It's previous life as a Swiss or German train maybe from the stickers? It has very high windows so Swiss?Crossing the Vidin - Califat bridge. Looking out of the train, over the road also on the bridge, along the Danube toward Vidin. The cracked window of the train obvious.Interior of the Vidin - Craiova train. With it's huge, and damaged, windows clear to be seen.Exterior of the Vidin - Craiova train. Diesel, as the Romanian side is not electrified. Sure someone can fill in what type of train, and where it came from.

@stefanlindbohm Super interesting result out of Railfinder. Vidin - Budapest. Suggests to take the train in Craiova to Draganesti Olt, to catch the Night Train (which stops at Craiova). Actually a nice idea. You get on the Night Train at a more civilised time. Took […] [Original post on todon.eu]
