I could not believe the Trump discussion with African leaders. How did the Liberian presdient learn English? Senegal's leader inviting him to build a golf course. Then the Nobel Peace Prize nomination. He's so easily flattered, but he's not going to lift tarriffs no matter how hard they try. 🙃

If you only know how many papers I had to write for Powell in 2002-3...literally the FMs of France, UK & him took turns for weeks, flying there to physically intervene. GE finally threatened an end to investment which was the tipping point to ending the standoff.

I was at an orientation for new diplomats in 1994 with a VP at the Heritage Society. The longer we listened, the more alarmed us centrists became. Upon return to FSI, one classmate said "when do conservative alternative ideas cross over into ideology?" The train tracks were laid out yrs ago.

🙄Got the right of it, George. I once got on a shuttle to New York with one cabinet secretary, one deputy secretary from a different agency, 3 national press reporters and one CEO pf a Fortune 500. We were all going to NY for different reasons, but people recognized each other.
