Oof. That isn't ethical. Match should be guaranteed, once it takes effect (and in my opinion it should take effect immediately upon hire).

Yes, that could be, for many. Here it's also a Woodstock generation thing. At protests, the demographic I see most represented is old ladies (with some of the hippie era men, though mostly women have outlived them). They created (in part) the protest culture, and they're still powering it.

Aww. She’s thoughtful. Shades of how it may be in college.

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Ah, true, it may have been relatively expensive, with all the locations and action.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

It is unfortunate. Ride Or Die was a bit formulaic and silly, but with such great talent in it, it was fun to watch.

They couldn’t have included him, sadly, because of the domestic violence. On the red carpet Gellar and Boreanaz alluded non-specifically to all the losses in the past two years, when asked.

I don’t know that I’ve heard this song before. Love the folk song portion of her work… I was also mesmerized by Silver Dagger when I first heard it (only a few years ago).

Also she was so funny and a fine actress.

So lucky to have seen her perform! We sing along with Jolene a lot around the house. I'd hoped she'd live forever...

That Miyagi’s *grandfather* fought in Korea.

The dead ones do look scary. The take-away should be that alive it looks quite elegant and streamlined.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

Yes, what a hard year for them, and yes a little beautiful.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

I thought that too. It does happen that way sometimes… not exactly broken heart syndrome, but something like it.

100

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

So sad. I heard a cover of Behind Blue Eyes this week and of course thought of him.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 05/06/2026

In a fit of nostalgia, am listening to some a cappella, and I’m hearing the words of many cover songs for the first time. One thing Ivy League boys are gonna do is enunciate.

Nice! That’s a good deal. Their sandwiches here are delicious… wonder if there are different recipes.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 23/05/2026

Also, whenever we do get food from there, the price is worth it for me to regale the kid with the time I heard a Southern tourist drawl her husband, “Look, Bob, a Pret A Maaaynger [see baby Jesus]. We saw that in Luhndun.”

110

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 23/05/2026

We do have the concept of meal deals here, just not at Pret A Manger.

100

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 23/05/2026

Hmm. 🤔 I was in one today, in a touristy area next to Central Park, and the sandwiches were either $10 or $11.95. My giant salad was $15 admittedly.

The ’80s are so long ago. Was talking to the kid about La Bamba and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and you should’ve heard me struggling to put Lou Diamond Phillips’ names in the correct order.

Maybe the excitement of traveling somewhere? That’s the allure for me. I like hearing the announcements—imagining all the places one could go.

010

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 21/04/2026

Ooh, and have just discovered that Harvey Fierstein is a gifted quilter and posts about it.

I read that at my age you’re sorted into gardening or bird-watching. I garden a bit. Also knitting.

Well, at least credit to them for his darker skin and hair. Not what I’d expect from evangelicals.

You’re right… I was going to mention Fawlty Towers. That, I loved.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 18/03/2026

(To take examples from opposite ends of the spectrum.)

It does have a many lame moments, but it has also produced much that is very, very funny. Cultural difference in humor? For instance, while I get why Monty Python is funny, I never laugh. See also: Why was there Benny Hill?

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 15/03/2026

A big name. Surprised she was attached. Maybe she dropped out due to being busy?

010

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 15/03/2026

It’s surprising, since you’d think it’s popular existing IP (as the studio types say). I feel sorry for the actors, but as a fan I’m relieved.

110

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

Makes sense that he does. Need to fill airport bookstores. The only series where multiple authors are acceptable: Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys.

010

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

Hmm, now I’m curious what book you mean. Nothing is worth subjecting yourself to “Cross.” Why is James Patterson so popular?

101

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 12/03/2026

A rare case of "Somebody's right on the Internet." I've had similar anger about the TV show "Cross" (which I watch purely for Aldis Hodge)—like, why is this so terrible, is the book also this terrible, does anyone else see how terrible this is?

Undoing all Ilya and Shane’s good work.

010

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 21/02/2026

I haven’t seen it yet, but I imagine a lot of things are more fun than Hamnet.

010

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

What? The Queen and Billy Connolly ones are impressive. I once stood behind Jimmy Smits in line at Macy’s while Christmas shopping. And I once used to own Brian Wilson’s coat hanger.

And it deals with Lidar, which is a miracle and really such a transformative change from my day.

000

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 07/02/2026

Same. I thought it might be naive to say it out loud. The men I’ve known or even seen are not like this.

010

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

Ew to the whole thing. I confess to being surprised at how many men were behaving this way.

110

ejg25.bsky.social @ejg25.bsky.social · 24/01/2026

😃 Don’t do it. I’m sure he has many other good qualities.
