I say my favourite music genres are pop and metal, but with the latter I’m extremely selective. I only listen to metal when I feel like my life is perfect and nothing in the world is bothering me. Pop is my comfort music for whenever I feel anxious, worried, restless, tired, unmotivated…

If there’s a new kpop group that has a similar style to Lovelyz (soft feminine aesthetic, gentle sounding pop and ballads, focused on good vocals) do let me know

Watching a Lovelyz concert DVD from 2019, realising my mood is instantly better. Why don’t I do this more often? The best kpop gg of all time for me (haven’t really followed any in the past few years, but still)

I feel privileged waiting here in clean air Finland for the haze to clear up in Singapore so I can travel there. I’m mainly travelling for health reasons, I definitely want the air quality to improve first. Really sucks for the local people, as well as everyone in Malaysia and especially Indonesia 😣

Exactly 😆

Or not necessarily very common, but way more common than in Finland, so Finns associate the name with Estonia
010
Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
It doesn’t sound more Estonian, it’s just that it’s a very common name in Estonia, and a rare name in Finland. It was mostly used 100 years ago here, everyone knows it, but I’ve never met anyone with the same name

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Finns always think I’m Estonian because of my name, maybe that’s a sign I should learn Estonian

that way too, for many reasons. Anyway, it was funny and refreshing that this coworker didn’t question the 53 at all and seemed surprised to hear I was “only” 45 🤭 maybe I’ve finally made it and acquired an aura of maturity and wisdom? Or maybe just a few more wrinkles haha

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
My new coworker thought I’m 53, apparently he’d misheard me previously or something (I don’t remember saying my age). I’m 45 and people rarely believe me, they insist I look 25–35. I know it’s supposed to be a compliment, but I disagree, I think I look my age, and I really wish people saw me -

Not sure when I can travel though, hopefully before the winter is over. It’s getting too cold for me to handle already 🫣 I said earlier I’d work out and become super fit for winter so I can endure the cold better, but I had surgery a few weeks ago, haven’t been able to exercise at all 😣

Told my (Finnish) mum that I want to go to Malaysia and visit Malacca. Thinking she might not know the city, I added “it’s like the Turku of Malaysia”. Not entirely inaccurate 😂

I started postcrossing again after a long pause, requested five addresses, and one of them goes to Malaysia! What a coincidence. And it’s a first for me. I’ve been learning Malay all week, and generally just thinking/daydreaming about Malaysia. I still wrote in English though

Oh a big achievement I’ve made in Malay is now I can finally tell Malay and Indonesian apart 🤭 I don’t even know why it was so difficult before, the accents in are different, and a lot of the basic vocabulary too

I actually didn’t start with Malay properly until yesterday. I’ve been on sick leave for the past three weeks, the kind of sick leave where you can’t do much, just wish for time to pass faster so you recover. But yeah, six hours of Malay in two days, the progress has been nice!

I love gaming, but I haven’t played a huge variety of games as I’ve been the type to play the same one for 10 years. It’s delightful when I actually recognise a game reference within another one

Finally got around to reading this on my holidays. How to kill a language is a fantastic piece of work. I haven't tabbed or annotated a book this much in years. It's informative and highlights big social issues, and the questions and senses of our own identities, both personal and communal
A copy of How to kill a Language by Sophia Smith Gaer on a black table. The book is HEAVILY tabbed. There is a pen beneath it.

Ok, I’ll keep these for a while ☺️ It’s a lot of different members, various groups (mostly Tsubaki though), so wasn’t expecting one person to want everything, I can also just send a few things in an envelope

The box size where I could put pretty much everything I want to give away would be 54.90 EUR

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Depends on the amount of stuff, anywhere between 3.35 EUR and 197 EUR, the smallest box is 38.90 EUR. The good news is, no import tax if the value is under 50 USD

Thanks for the ideas (I thought vinted was just for clothes) but I’ve not sold a single H!P item in like 10 years, I don’t even want to try 🥲

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Thanks for the ideas, but I’ve wasted too much time of my life on this already, I’m not going to try anymore

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I still like H!P but these are doubles and members I never collected in the first place, also I really just want to live a more minimalist life, I’m not doing any mobagacha anymore

I wanna give away a bunch of Hello! Project gacha and photos for free (“just pay shipping” style) but at this point I feel like nobody wants anything even for free. Or maybe I’m just don’t know the fandom anymore since I left twitter

Thank you, the kanji are very complicated indeed, and I’m actually focusing on learning Chinese now, I find it easier (and more interesting personally)
010
Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Regarding two sets of kana I’m not sure, but I believe kanji helps greatly with reading as the language has many homonyms. It also helps separate the words. I’m only learning Japanese, but have noticed this myself, it’s indeed faster and easier to read with kanji (if only I’m familar with them)

Oh nice! I considered learning Greek once as well, might actually do it one day

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
I’ve used those sometimes, but I don’t really like them as not everyone recognises zh and lt for example. Better than flags anyway
000
Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
Something I’ve improved in my language learning recently I stopped parroting whatever is popular in the online language learning community (online lessons, input-heavy immersion) and started doing more of what works for ME (self-study with grammar books and youtube, practice with people) #langsky
070
Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
I added my languages in my bio again, but there’s no space for more unless I use flags or language codes (I don’t like either) Also no space for my “queue” on languages I wish explore in the future: German, French, Portuguese, Czech, Estonian, Indonesian, many Chinese languages (I’m greedy I know)

Liisi @eisiili.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
By the way, this schedule is just for intensive focused solo study. I read books, watch stuff, follow content, and talk to friends and practice partners in ALL of my languages daily. However, intensive doesn’t necessarily mean hours of study! I can do anywhere between 15 minutes and the entire day

I also have a new weekly plan Mon: mix (other languages) Tue: Mandarin Wed: Malay Thu: Mandarin Fri: Malay Sat: Mandarin Sun: Malay Right now I’m doing a full Tue to Sun Mandarin, but in a week or two, my Malay textbook will arrive, and I’ll start with the Malay days #langsky

Autumn language focus: Mandarin and Malay. Malay, it’s a new thing and it isn’t. I wanted to learn it 4 years ago, but couldn’t find resources, went with Indonesian instead. I never got far, because what I really wanted is Malay. Now I’ve managed to find some resources and I’m so motivated! #langsky
