I live in NYC. I love reading. I cannot think of anything not snarky to add.

I'd appreciate ads more if they weren't terrible. Don't talk about my mom.
Ad on subway wall for Job Today. "Your mom wants you to get a job? So do we! New York's #1 Hiring App"partially overlaying a close up of someone's mom. The woman is frowning out at the audience. She has dark hair, is on the heavier side and looks to be neither black nor white but perhaps Hispanic or from an island nation.

Set up for second seder complete! Pleased to report there is enough charoset.
A dining room table set for Passover seder. A tablecloth with Hebrew expressions. Each place has a plate with an egg, parsley, charoset, radish slices, and horse radish. On the table are bottles of wine, candles, wine glasses, water glasses, kiddish cups, a seder plate, and various other tablery. There's a guest book. On each chair is a haggadah and a green songsheet.

Charoset made. Not sure well have enough for both seders, but I think we will.
Big batch of chopped apples mixed with walnuts, red wine, and honey, in a plastic container, in a granite counter top.

Happy New York Anniversary to me!
Yellow Metrocard cake on a glass platter on a table in a bar. Food coloring made the frosting yellow, then used blue icing for the word "Metrocard" and chocolate icing for the magnetic strip across the bottom.

I'm adding context in case a post goes missing in the future and I wonder what O was talking about.
Screenshot of the post in situ. OP Imani Gandy @angryblacklady posted "How do you land Vanity Fair west coast editor at age 32 after having affairs with two presidential candidates you were covering as a journalist. That is some prime white lady shit." 95 comments, 440 quote posts, 2.9k likes.

Getting out the vote in NYC.
Stack of blank postcards and one front and center ready to be filled out for Jewish Voters Unite.

Left side of each postcard has a checklist: American, Jewish, and Voter, all checked off. Right side has lines for address and a box to show where the stamp should go.

Under the field that asks you for an email, there's a very small "No, thanks" that you can click to go straight to a lot of the content. (I believe that using Substack as a platform is problematic but I also understand that there are monetary issues for users at play.)
The front page of the Substack "The Vajenda" by Jen Gunter. There's a bright The Vajenda logo, a bolded title, a nonbolded descriptive paragraph about what it is in slightly smaller font, a colorful box that has dummy text that reads "Type your email..." with a bright pink Subscribe button. Under that, in a yet slightly smaller font, text with legalese saying you agree to their terms of service, information collection notice, and privacy policy. Each of the 3 terms are underlined so you know they are clickable. Under that, there is text that says "No thanks >" that will take you to the same place without giving your email but there's no way to know that without actually clicking it. The text is not underlined.

I have circled the "No thanks >" in blue.

I didn't realize how long it's been since I posted. Apologies. I'm still around. Here is a picture of an absolute monstrosity as a picture. #WhyGodWhy

I don't consider Human Rights divisive. As the boards is recommending, I am voting against this and I urge you to do so as well, where ever it pops up.
When corporations take extreme positions, they destroy shareholder value by alienating large portions of their customers and investors. This proposal provides Disney with an opportunity to move back to neutral.
From 2007 to present, Disney received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)’s annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which can only be attained by abiding by its partisan, divisive and increasingly radical criteria.
Though HRC – which Disney has a paid partnership with – claims the CEI is just a “benchmarking tool on corporate policies… pertinent to LGBT employees,” in reality, it functions like a social credit score for corporations. The threat of a bad score is wielded against corporations to force them to do the political bidding of HRC and others (like GLSEN, the Trevor Project and GLAAD, which Disney also has paid partnerships with that seek to sow gender confusion in children, encourage irreversible surgical procedures on confused teens, effectively eliminate girls’ and women’s sports and bathrooms, and roll back longstanding religious liberties.
Receiving a perfect score on the CEI can only mean that Disney espouses and funds those divisive positions. Because, as clearly outlined in the CEI criteria, not advancing those efforts prevents companies from receiving a perfect score, as Disney continuously has.
Disney disastrously engaged in such activism when it inserted itself in the middle of a divisive public debate over the Parental Rights in Education Act. And when a leaked video conference between Disney executives revealed that Disney has a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and was “adding queerness” to children’s programming.
Consequently, Disney stock fell 44% in 2022 – its worst performance in 50 years – amid putting this divisive agenda ahead of parental rights and political neutrality.

[truncated due to length but you get the idea]

If you see this, post a picture from your device. No explanation needed. (And don't forget Alt Text.)

It was an ad for Picard.

I'm in the "getting a job" portion of my program. Yesterday, when talking abt trends that excited us I mentioned @bsky.app. The teacher went on line & added the open jobs to their internal database. Today, the employment coach is using @bsky.app as an example of the intricacies of LinkedIn.

Trainers. For the love of all you hold dear. If a client tells you they walked so much they could barely move for two days, and then they tell you how many steps they walked, do NOT respond "Oh, that's not nearly enough." It's dispiriting.

Pleased and impressed that at my local street fair yesterday, a group was giving out Naloxone kits for free and teaching people how to use them. #NYC

Then this seems appropriate.
Yellow patterned sign with white lettering that reads "Beekeeping Classes" with informational text that is too blurry to read underneath. The sign is in a metal stand in front of a planter, at a busy park in a city (happens to be Bryant Park in NYC).

Happy Birthday Internet Stranger. Here is a picture I took. I was in New York and this was just on a building like no big deal. Have a good year.
Detail of amazing masonry work on a building. There are cherubs, lions, fountains, fleur de lis.

My greatest Wordle victory was when my first two words revealed all grey letters and I guessed it on the third try.
Phone Screen shot of New York Times' Wordle with three guesses. First is FLAME and all the letters are grey. Second is PROUD and all the letter are grey. Third is SIGHT and all the letters are green.

I was at Target a few days ago. The prominence of the Lipton Soup mix on their Channukah display, which consisted of a roll out metal cart made me chuckle to myself. But also cringe. Granted, it was towards the end of the holiday, but still. A quarter of the entire display.
White metal rolling cart at Target with four shelves. A sign on top says Happy Hanukkah! and says when Channukah begins. The top shelf is all Lipton Soup Mix. The second shelf holds blue and white trail mix and Matza ball soup mix. The third and fourth shelves hold blue boxes of Chanukka candles.

Let's try something. If you are stuck for a gift idea for someone, let me know and I'll try to help. If you could include relationship and age range I'll give it a shot. I'm pretty good at it.
