There are a couple of days that I experience completely differently now. Top among them is Father's Day. In the days leading up to Father's Day, I tend to hear my Dad’s voice in my ear more intensely. One of the things I’m hearing in my ear this week is “pay attention to what you’re ‘majoring’ in, don't major in the minor.”

I've decided to start a tradition of penning a short essay on my birthday for as long as I can. So, on (or around) March 31, you can expect a short essay from me reflecting on life and living. Why would I start this tradition on my birthday with an essay titled "Memento Mori"? If you don't know, Memento Mori loosely means "Remember you must die." Why, on a day when I should be celebrating in some form or fashion, would I choose to think and talk about death?
