Incredibly proud of the first Honours student I co-supervised, Violet Chilvers, who published her thesis in Aquaculture Research! Her research explored how source, ploidy and thermal regime impact the growth and survival of blue mussel larvae. doi.org/10.1155/are/...

The Filgueira lab had an amazing time earlier this week at Aquaculture Canada 2025! So proud of the students for giving such incredible talks, particularly Jasmine Talevi for taking home the best oral presentation award!

Finished deploying our oyster cages across Cape Breton today with my Honours student, Elise! We will be assessing MSX-driven mortality throughout the summer and looking for genetic markers of disease resistance after!

As a panelist at the Canadian Genomics Summit, Dr. Tiago Hori highlighted how climate change is threatening shellfish aquaculture in a myriad of ways. Good thing funding from @genomecanada.bsky.social is helping us develop new genomics tools to solve these challenges!
