A Christmas themed photo featuring Lan Wangi and Wei Wuxian 5cm dolls being held in front of a much larger Santa doll. The photo also has an added border of repeating Christmas motifs: snowmen, presents, snowflakes, bells and stockings.

wwx smiles, his tears overflowing, as he bites his finger and drags it along their bodies where they are connected. they take a deep breath and close their eyes as one. they don't open them again.

000

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

he moves his face down as far as it will go, kissing at lwj's ear and nape, and sobs. he knows how to end this, he's been trapped in all these lives just like lwj and he's had enough. "keep your head down." he tells lwj, who somehow holds him even tighter.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

"it's okay. we'll be okay. this has to end, lan zhan." he repeats. "you can't go on like this anymore. i'll help you, alright? this will be the end." wwx voice is thick as he talks and he gasps when lwj kisses his neck.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

"i know, i know." wwx shushes him. "hold me tighter, lan zhan. i'm not going anywhere." lwj squeezes his waist so hard any other body would burst, but wwx huffs out a laugh and guides lwj's head bury in the crook of his neck.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

he can't— not to his wwx, not to him too. but wwx sighs, soft and sad, and kisses him. lwj kisses back while he can. he hasn't always gotten far enough for them to become lovers, so they haven't kissed in so very long. he misses it. he misses wwx so much.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

"sweetheart, it's time to let go. let me go. this has to end." he pleads, and lwj finally sees who he is, the pain in his eyes, the melted together mix of every life and every wwx he has lived. there's blood dripping from his nose already. no. lwj has fucked up again.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

"lan zhan," he murmurs, tears welling in his eyes. "you've worked so hard." wwx comes and embraces lwj—and it's so so easy to return it, fit his arms around his waist where they belong. "i love you." wwx continues, pushing lwj's hair out if his eyes.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

every time, he has failed. lwj doesn't know how long he's been stuck in this never ending loop, but he's tired. he's exhausted and hurt and pained, emotionally and physically. when he meets wwx in this life, however, wwx looks at him for the first time with recognition in his eyes.

110

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

⚠️cw angst, mcd wangxian au where lwj goes back in time/goes thru parallel universes each time wwx dies. he keeps failing one way or another, wwx always always dies. there's nothing he can do anymore to stop it. he's even changed himself, changed his ways, changed their past.

"lan zhan, i love you." he murmurs. lwj doesn't stir in the slightest. wwx smiles, looking at his lips, then closes his eyes. the storm rages on outside. maybe he'll get to sleep before morning.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

wwx kisses his forehead and his nose and his cheeks, feeling how his fever has lowered, before he presses a chaste kiss against his lips and settles down.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

when he crawls back into bed, he gathers lwj into an embrace the best he can without moving and jostling him too much and presses his lips to the top of lwj's head. lwj is soft in his sleep, crinkle in his brow smoothed out.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

no. lwj deserves to be able to show his hurt and not be punished anymore for it. he just wishes... he just wishes lwj didn't have any pain at all.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

the thought that he wishes lwj wasn't in pain as well so he would take care of wwx instead poisons his mind for a selfish second before he slaps at his own face.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

- it doesn't take much longer for lwj to close his eyes and fall asleep, the time being later than wwx thought. he gets out of bed to relieve himself and splash some water on his face, to wipe again at the sweat forming at his joints from the pain

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

he cradles lwj's hand, carefully bringing it up towards his chest. running on hand along his forearm, wwx presses a kiss to each of lwj's fingers. "let me take care of you." he murmurs against them. they twitch in his hold.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

"don't you dare start an energy transfer." wwx demands the second he feels lwj's energy through their connection. his eyebrow furrow when lwj makes a hum of protest. "you can't even talk, lan zhan. you need it more than i do."

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

honestly, wwx doesn't think he will be able to sleep peacefully anytime soon, not with the way his body is screaming at him, but he will stay here if it means lwj rests. lwj watches him, his hand squeezing wwx's.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

the bed bounces as wwx throws himself onto it at lwj's other side, immediately curling up. he takes lwj's hand that closest to him within both of his own and looks into lwj's eyes from where their heads rest on their respective pillows.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

"go to sleep, you silly, stubborn thing." wwx says, a laugh in his tone. "i'll be right beside you when you wake up and hopefully the weather will be kinder." -

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

but they get lwj in bed, on his front again, even dressed in a fresh sleeping robe. wwx sits at his bedside after letting go to change himself. wwx shushes him, stroking back his hair.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

"–'s go back to bed." wwx's muffled voice says after a moment. it's difficult for lwj to let wwx pull away and help him up—and when wwx goes pale as he's taking lwj back to their bedroom lwj almost feels his heart stop.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

wwx freezes next to him + starts to awkwardly laugh, but lwj has always seen right through him, huh. he sighs + presses their heads together. he doesn't answer in words, but suddenly his whole body is shaking + he buries his face into the crook of lwj's neck in a makeshift hug.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

"wei ying." lwj says as wwx moves to pack everything away and clean up. "hm?" wwx hums, setting the trays back in the box. "where does it hurt?" and then, "your hands are trembling."

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

wwx's tray has a lot less portions overall and, even through the brain fog of pain, lwj is concerned. wwx finishes his rice and soup, eats a few bites of the main dish, before he himself takes the medication he'd offered lwj.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

"no." lwj replies, his grip on wwx's leg tightening. "wei ying, eat." wwx looks at him and he looks back, only for a few moments later to sigh and drag his tray over and pick at it like a bird.

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

and he's kept the bottle stocked ever since. lwj takes the medicine without fuss, then looks pointedly at wwx, at his untouched tray. "ah, yeah, yeah, let's get you back to bed first. you'll be more comfortable, yeah?"

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

"here," wwx says when lwj's eaten maybe half of his meal + no more. he slides a small bottle from the corner of the table. "you didn't take any medicine before, did you? this'll help." he'd gotten the pain killers from the healers one day when he couldn't take how blinding it was

100

tomi @eightroses.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

lwj eats, one hand holding himself off the table and the other on wwx's leg that's bracketing him.
