This sometimes gets overshadowed because it’s sandwiched between Dirty Mind and 1999, but it’s an excellent album in its own right. “Do Me Baby” is one of the best R&B slow jams of all time and only Prince can make a rockabilly song about jacking off sound so good.

I just remembered about Tales of Luminaria. And that's crazy how they throw the game under the bus instead of listening to what the players had to say. I strongly believe post COVID outbreak impacted their decision (and probably their budget).

You know those rumors, some are coming from Akina's brother and he said she's no contact with her family since many years. Honestly, it reminds me of Mariah Carey's brother attitude 🤷🏿‍♀️

000

Recent pictures of Nakamori Akina from Ongaku Natalie. She looks healthy! We had so many rumors about her being sick the last years... natalie.mu/music/news/6...

OMG I forgot that one 😆 I think I was heavily influenced by the Western idea of what a great diva singer should be. I really like her voice now, and I had to unlearn a lot of things while learning about Japanese pop music.

I thought she was singing like a sick dying goat tbh.... I was also suprised of how "vintage" her way of singing was.

The first time I heard Hamasaki Ayumi's voice, I was genuinely shocked. This unpopular opinion is a secret between us 🤫

I just watched the video 🤣 She was screaming "I wanna go home" in her mind lol

*Me jumping inside the train of delusion* 👀 A revival of Dream Momusu is everything I'm waiting for. With Ai chan, Konkon and Aibon. Then Hitomi will make a surprise comeback and join the crew... 😭

Nothing Else

But I have to say that I'm really surprised that Nagai Mariko is the one singing this song. I can't explain why... But hey, it fit the early 00s vibes! Ando Yuko started her career around this time. She would definitely fit that kind of song!...as a b-side and with a different arrangement of course.

000

The arrangements would have been slightly different for each of them, and I would have been fun to have a multiproject song like that. I think something like that was already done before...? 🤔 Even Ogata Risa can sing a song like that and we would all think "This is really her style of music!"

100

Even if GiRLPOP is not a genre, there is definitely a type of ballad the singers used to sing at a certain point of their career. This song is typically the kind of ballad I'm talking about. I could name at least 10 GiRLPOP singers who could have sung this song.

100

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of her debut, Nagai Mariko released the single "Onaji Jidai". The lyrics and the composition was from the lovely Endou Kyoko and the arrangement by hit maker Sogawa Tomoji. Nagai Mariko - Onaji Jidai (2002) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va_z...

So far, "Lluvia" is my favourite album of her! There is something very Yuming about it. Imai Miki - Egao (1991) www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5pr... #GiRLPOP
