working on A Thing means you're improving your physical AND mental skills regarding that thing. drawing doesn't just improve your skill with drawing itself, it also gives you a lot of insight wrt colour theory, compositions, etc. (provided ur trying to make use of those skills) and AI can't do that.

八十八 | read red rabbit @ei8hty.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

even without considering the aspect of 'creating the thing is the joy', throughout the process of creating something you'll always find things that you initially thought was hot shit that doesn't work in the end product, and vice versa. you'll come up with new ideas that bolster the initial idea.

i feel like one of the problems with using AI to create things is that when you don't go through the process of creating, you don't realize what does and doesn't work in the thing you're making. this is the case with games especially where AI just shits out the 'idea' and it never improves on it.

HELLO! would you like to help me bring my cats back home and also get some cool art? I'm opening commissions to help fund my pet travel fees. Sketches start at 75USD, with discounts for sketchpages I'm also available for char design and other projects. Boosts are really appreciated!!! Thank you!

Here are my two silly girls, Marshmallow and Cheung Fun.

And here is the price I will have to pay to bring them home with me, 4972 CAD. (Not including additional fees)

I know it's a lot of money that I barely have, considering I've been unemployed for over a year despite trying to find a job, living off savings and occasional (and dwindling) merch sales/comms.
But they've gotten me through a lot and I'm not sure I would still be around without them, so I want to try my best to bring them along with me back home... (if failing that, I will try to rehome them with my friends, but this isn't confirmed)

I still have a few in person events to sell my merch at, but con sales have been quite bad lately for artists nor have I ever made a huge amount of profit from a single convention.

(btw, if you're from toronto and would like to support me in person, my next conventions are:
fanfest@home, toronto game expo, and a gachiakuta cup sleeve event I'm co-hosting)

I expect I'll need at least an extra 2~3k more than what I currently have/can earn. (thankfully I have a bit of money saved in twitch and patreon earnings)

the move is at the end of november...
the cool part is you can help us in certain ways!!!

I am once again offering commissions, please DM me for details! (paypal preferred, vgen available)

skeblike sketch style starting at-
b/w: 75USD
coloured: 100USD
(base price halfbody)

Sketchpages (3+ of the same character/s): 10% discount per drawing
NSFW/private commissions: +10% fees
commercial fee: Please inquire with parameters

Please note that my turnaround time may be a bit longer, especially with my upcoming move.

character design starting at-
clean: 200USD
sketch: 150USD

I'm also open to bigger projects such as short comics, short animation memes, l2d model art, or pngtubers. (however the turnaround time for those might be a lot longer...)

If you can't afford a commission right now, that's fine!
If you can donate a little bit, you can send some money through kofi at ko-fi.com/ei8hty8

You can also join my patreon at patreon.com/ei8hty, starting at just $1!

If you can't spare any money at all, I appreciate you reading through this!

You can still help by:

- reposting this so my next commissioner can find me!
- dropping by my stream at twitch.tv/ei8hty8_ when I go live!
(I will be trying to stream any comms I get from this)
- boosting my art in general, especially my webcomic posts
(and read my webcomic red rabbit!!!)

I sometimes wonder if the push for AI is so big specifically in the US bc the government wants to make/keep the newer generation stupid. the absence of critical thinking skills is something that a lot of people who use AI lack.

Silver & Iron: Part Four Pages 13/33

Heliotrope and Sorrel stand on the threshold of her old house looking into a small but quaint hallway. An ornate light fixture hangs from the ceiling, coats and shoes line the nearest wall, mail is collecting on the floor by the mail slot, and a wilted flower drops its petals from a vase on a chest of drawers. It's dark out, but even darker inside, so the two vampires cast a long shadow, backlit save for their piercing red eyes. They pause there a moment, their faces in shadows. Sorrel, gravely: "May I come in?" Heliotrope, emotionless: "Yeah." As Sorrel speaks, different panels show rooms that can be seen through archways in the hall. "It's best not to turn the lights on. Your neighbours might get suspicious. You shouldn't have much trouble seeing." More dead house plants in a small carpeted living room. A coffee table by an old fireplace has a half-finished jigsaw puzzle with three distinct piles of pieces and more games underneath. A dining room has a hutch, bookshelf, and still cuckoo clock. On the table is a school backpack, its contents spilling out, a water bottle stood next to it. Sorrel: "Was there a room you wanted to start with?" A sofa shaped for one of the house's small bay windows, its blinds not drawn, open books scattered on its cushions. "Or we could just put a bag in each one and see what strikes you."

Sorrel puts a hand on Heliotrope's shoulder. "Poppet?" Heliotrope jumps and turns to him; she says nothing, but the curve of her brow and her wide eyes communicate that she may feel overwhelmed by the reality of her situation. Sorrel pauses before he continues, his face passive, non-judgemental. "We have all night. Or we could come back another time, if you'd like." Heliotrope turns to face forward again and frowns. "My bedroom was upstairs," she says, taking the suitcases up an L-shaped staircase at the end of the short hall. "Lead the way," Sorrel says, adjusting his own bags. Heliotrope is not reflected in the hall mirror.

my links (including commission tos) > ei8hty8.carrd.co more info > Hong Kong only allows pets to enter the region as manifest cargo, and since last September all bookings must be made through a certified pet travel agent. This has obviously caused my projected pet travel cost to skyrocket.

Today is my BIRTHDAYYY and I am cashing in on my right to be annoying AF about my webcomic!! Action, drama, comedy, werewolf politics, vampire ennui, and a big sexy hairy blossoming gay romance between two losers. Plus a lil weird girl who loves to be dead! Read SILVER & IRON today! You have to.

Page from chapter one with a werewolf racing around an alley corner chasing an inky half-fish-skeleton monster creature. "I am a Bloodright werewolf of the Lovell family, twenty generations strong! And I'm proud of it! Even if it's weird!"

Little girl who appears unconscious, her right arm and part of her skull magically exploding to reveal the sinew, musculature and bone underneath as it repairs itself.

A different absolutely massive werewolf smirking as he smacks two other werewolves out the way, then leaps to the ground on top of them, asking of two onlookers: "Okay. If I ask nicely, will you tell me who hired you? Or am I gonna ask meanly?"

Brightly coloured page of panels of different sizes with the text "are we flirting?" running behind them. Two men, one blond and bearded, the other with messy black hair and red eyes, are sitting close to each other with drinks in hand. "Not just for that night. For everything. You've done a lot for us that you didn't have to. I feel like I need to... repay you." Blond man: [His skin is so cold, but so soft. It's nothing like a cadaver.] (Smiling) "Yeah? Repay me how?" Other man: "However you want."
