Learners at Nika Foundation in Masiphumelele watched films on TB, asthma and mental health made by young IkamvaYouth Masi filmmakers. The questions didn't stop. This September, our Learner Doccies workshops will turn that curiosity into new films. Stay tuned!

A survey is stronger when the people it is designed for help shape it. We worked with residents of Khayelitsha & Gugulethu to explore social determinants of health. This is what rigorous research looks like when communities lead.

What happens when young people hold the mic talking about cancer? Our Eh!woza Youth programme brought learners together to explore cancer, symptoms and treatments, while asking the questions that matter. Thank you to everyone who joined this conversation.

Cold water traps people. Residents of Khayelitsha shared stories of flooding in a workshop we held with PEP. What stood out was how quickly we shifted from naming what hurts to planning what helps. The answers came from the residents. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

This Women's Month, we're celebrating the women we get to work with all year round. So much of public health work rests on women, from the ones who carry the message into communities to the researchers who dig until real answers come. We see the work. Thank you.

This is what Mandela Day looked like for us this year. We joined @NRF_SAASTA iThemba LABS as exhibitors at the Science in the Community event, hosted at Simanyene High School, and it did not disappoint.

On 18 June, with CSAG and Khayelitsha residents, we held the final session of our shared learning conversations on climate, flooding & health. Months of dialogue linking flooding to health risks like diarrhoeal disease. Now moving from conversation to action.

"What kind of leader are you?" Curator Simon Njami's question stayed with me long after the Poetics of Leadership programme with the Moleskine Foundation. I spoke about softness and realised listening, care and vulnerability were already shaping how I lead. Photography by - Cartacarbone

50 years after June 16, young people are still asking to be heard this time about healthcare. With VUKA Research Clinic, we held a debate: Are local clinics truly accessible and responsive to young people?

No outbreak. No headlines. Antibiotic resistance quietly stops treatments from working, and not equally for everyone. This week Eh!woza Youth took that conversation to Grade 9 and 10 learners in Khayelitsha.

Seeing Khayelitsha from above, as young people from IkamvaYouth learned aerial storytelling, was great. Drone footage revealed what communities already know: diseases and climate change are deeply connected. Thank you to the learners for the confidence in flying the drone.
