When bees get tired of flying and carrying pollen, they can fall asleep in flowers like this.

Like all things, there are positives and negatives. Sadly, the negatives tend to have a very detrimental effect on the patient. I just wanted to highlight that there are positives.

I have also benefitted from doctors who, during consultations, have used google or equivalent to help manage a condition or understand a symptom. I certainly feel more listened to than I did in the 70’s/80’s and even the 90’s.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying. Sadly it depends on the Doctor. I have a rather complex medical history, a mix of birth defects & autoimmune and a long history with cancer. I can absolutely empathise with your experiences and many others experiences.

I’m glad when they look up symptoms/treatments online. They know the correct sites to use, they get the most up to date research and treatments. Books are out of date by the time they’re published. A GP cannot know everything and I’d want one that investigates what’s best for the patient.

Oh Yanny, you really have been going through a rough time. Pain like that can be overwhelming and believe me, it can bring lots of people to tears as there’s no escape from it. I hope that the fragility improves but if it doesn’t, maybe get checked out just to be safe? Sending love xx

We certainly are and until I read your post I was very fond of lemongrass - will see it very differently now!

Basil - as much as I keep trying it, I detest it. Can’t even have a basil plant in the house as I hate the smell. Extremely rare that I don’t like something and it really bothers me.

The NHS has massive problems but somehow they’ve kept me alive and mostly functional for 56 years, which is quite a feat 😂 I’ve experienced good and bad with it, yesterday was very much good. I hope you’re feeling much better too. Sending love xx

Been a crazy 24 hours, 3 specialities trying to work out what had happened to me as not seen it before. All 3 in surgery to fix. So much better this morning. I know pain is bad when I don’t notice my usual baseline chronic pain, today I’m back to my baseline and very happy about it.

Well last night had trip to out of hours, sent straight to A&E (staff there drove me). A night in A&E & this morning transferred to Arrowe Park. Complications of December’s surgery & need another op today or tomorrow. So, I hope that this will be the end of it for both of us. Get well soon Yanny xx

Was thinking about you Saturday evening. We had our surgeries around the same time last year and I was thinking how unlucky you had complications.

Just a lot of psychological and physical adjustment but looks like they got it all, no chemo needed so huge positive there. Monitoring for next few years to make sure doesn’t pop up again. Fatigue is hitting hard but hope to get back to gym beginning of March. Love to you guys ❤️

What a refreshingly honest account of a radical cystectomy and the after effects, many of which I am slowly coming to terms with.

Once in a while the never ending health problems do get to me, this is one of those times. On the plus side, last year I almost needed to have my foot amputated but I was lucky. So it could have been worse, at least I still have both my feet. Happy Christmas everyone x

All done & dusted. 15 days in hospital & I’m finally free. Time to recover & adjust to my new appendage, then get back to gym because lost so much strength due to the surgery. Been an awful year, beginning with the loss of my stepfather & ending with loss of my bladder. Hoping next year is better 🤞

Perfect antidote to waking and not feeling so good. Hearing a knocking on the ward window and it’s some seagulls asking if there’s any leftovers from our breakfasts. Mood instantly lifted 🥰

Out of HDU so that’s good (missing my little room though). Having to accept it’s going to be a long recovery - no gym for 3 months 😩. Think cancer restricted to bladder but waiting for histology to have a nose and confirm. If chemo is needed it’s needed - not really a choice. Thanks for asking ❤️

You were able to pay for it, why not?! If mine hadn’t been so big and needed specialist post op care (and ex paid for it 😂) I would do the same. It’s our health, we look after it best way we can. Doesn’t affect my sympathy at all. Hope it went well with the Doc this evening xx

Surgery went well, took about 9 hours! So hard for family waiting for updates. Once they’ve got pain and sickness under control they’ll get me out of bed - hopefully tomorrow. Will be thinking of you tomorrow afternoon, hope all goes well for you. Sending love xx

I’ve been meaning to tell you this for ages but you have influenced me! I have a PT and have been going to gym 3 times a week for past few months. Uses up all my money but boy do I feel the difference. So thank you, years of seeing you in your Lycra has had a positive effect!

Going to use this space to vent. Only know a couple of people on here so basically talking to the void. Today I have been diagnosed with not one but two forms of bladder cancer. So in a few weeks they will be removing it. Going to take a bit of time to process this… (will probs delete this later).
