Of course you can get with any of the eligible NPCs (this is kind of annoying too, I hate when everyone is just potentially into You, the Player Character) but that doesn't really count. It's like, barely avoiding queerbaiting I guess? I don't know, I'm pretty stupid.

It kind of bills itself as Gay Stardew Valley but in the game, the only explicit relationships between any of the characters are hetero. There are *implications* that some characters might be queer, or that there's some kind of throuple going on, but it's only *implications.*

This isn't really anything groundbreaking but playing Fields of Mistria for a bit when it came out got me thinking about how it, Stardew Valley, and pretty much any game in that vein all have a pretty conservative? thing going on which felt really annoying in Mistria's case particularly.

Specifying Pokemon gen 2 but then also Final Fantasy more broadly is interesting. Do you mean the sort of operatic stories that they tend to go for despite the other differences? I've always liked that less apparent but still present whimsy and drama they tend to keep vs. the obvious formula of DQ.

I think it was just extemely jarring at first but seeing that argument suggesting they were going for a rococo fairy tale style really made things click for me and I love it now.

All ultimately pointless speculation without actually seeing any internal design docs etc. but I can't imagine most people there are happy that this is what's being shown and released. It just looks wrong in so many spots, and that's just in the promotional stuff.

Thought about it more and also saw a thing suggesting that they might have been going for a maximalist rococo/classic fairy tale illustration type look which actually makes a lot of sense. Think it just didn't come together the way they wanted it but had to be rushed out for anniversary. Kinda sad.

That goes down to decades of ingrained propaganda, bigotry, etc. especially in America but also elsewhere, either homegrown or from American influence, but largely roots in baseline fears necessary for capitalism to continue functioning. The cure is long term education reform and social security.

It just sounds like you've run into a lot of assholes who grab a label for themselves to spout some nonsense, or weird hero worshipers. Lenin and especially Marx are not worth that but they did provide very useable models for examining the world that can be separated from them.

I've never really seen anyone argue that unless it's like, the misfirings of someone who is vaguely aware of theory just spouting something. No one serious is excluding the disabled, marginalized, etc. from the models of better conditions won through the struggle.
