Is this something that is required at all institutions, or something that institutions can enable? (Reading the terms and conditions linked here does not indicate that it is required, but that it might be an option, and if it is enabled, users won't be able to access it without biometric ID.)

I don't know if this is what it's about, but I saw a post with a headline saying that Somali will be considered enemy combatants. (I haven't clicked on it to see what this means.)

These add up to 95%, so maybe there were 5% who gave some other answer--didn't respond, gave some unintelligible answer, gave something else.

Trump's understanding of how business is conducted is to save money by not paying the people he hires. Most people do not conduct business this way.

Not that anything he says necessarily makes sense, but yeah, I also wondered how secret tariffs work. They're so secret that nobody knows about them to pay them, I guess?

I see a lot of people making a huge deal over this, but when I listened to what he said, I didn't hear him say this. There's enough that he does that I have a problem with that I'm not going to be troubled about something I don't think he said.

Which is consistent with things he's said before, that we can endure high gas prices for the sake of the war.

Colin @egnowit.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
It sounded to me that the "small price to pay" was somethng that was already happening--high gas prices, etc., that "would be over with very soon."

I think in this case, he's saying that if he doesn't take action, Iran could take out an American city, and is giving LA and SD as examples (in a very poorly worded way), and not forgiving an attack on those cities.

Colin @egnowit.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I'm not an apologist, but I do think that people are mis-hearing what he's saying. (And because he's so bad at speaking, this happens a lot--people get upset about what they think he says or what it might sound like he says, even though that's not what he is trying to say.)

Colin @egnowit.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
"Let them take..." is a badly worded way of saying that it's possible that they could take out this city, and not giving permission to take the city.
000
Colin @egnowit.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
That's not my read on it. He's saying that if he doesn't stop Iran, they could take out an American city, and then for some reason gives LA and SD as possibilities. He's not asking them to take out LA or SD, or forgiving such an attack, but using that as an example.

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

Spooky bird stories. My Halloween comic from 2024.
A comic titled Spooky Bird Stories. In panel 1, a turkey vulture is telling stories to other vultures, and it says, "She walked toward the source of the terrible smell. She got closer and closer, and then, to her horror, she saw... No dead body." A black vulture says "No!" and a turkey vulture says "Did someone already eat it??" In panel 2, a northern cardinal is telling a story to some songbirds. It says "They peered through the windows of the house at the gory scene. Zombies had smashed through the door in the night. The homeowner was dead. But worst of all... He hadn't refilled the feeders." An eastern bluebird says "Aaah!" and an American goldfinch says "It can't be!". In panel 3, A screech owl is telling a story to other owls. It says "And then the ghost fluffed itself up really big to appear scarier." A saw-whet owl gasps, and a long-eared owl says "Horrifying!". In panel 4, a downy woodpecker is telling a story to other woodpeckers, and says "The eerie sound rang through the dark woods. Tap-tap. Tap-tap. It was the distinctive two-part knock of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. The species had returned from the dead... FOR REVENGE." A red-cockaded woodpecker says "Yesss".

I saw one politician recently (El-Sayed, maybe?) make the comparison between sharia law and canon law in the Catholic Church. (Like, how they're binding on members of the faith, but not on the general public.) Maybe canon law is too esoteric for most, but I kind of wish I see this comparison more.

I was just thinking this the other day, that while grocery prices have gone up, the coupons I get for the grocery store have not. They're still the same 50 cents off or whatever.

OPBF just made an extremely @sickoscommittee.org suggestion to me: “I think football would be more fun if there was a random element each week. Like you find out right before the game, ‘this week no punting allowed. this week, no helmet comms, etc.’”

If you don't have laundry facilities available, $1 bills are useful to make change to feed washers and dryers. (Although those machines often take $5 or $10 or $20 bills.)

When this map first started, there was a post every week on r/cfb giving statistics like population, area, most territory won/lost, and stuff like that. I don't know if they still do that, but you can check reddit and see if they still make a post with those stats.

The total area usually belongs to whomever has Washington's territory, since it includes all of Alaska. And, in general, western schools' territories include more area than those in the east. Total number of pieces might be more informative than total area.

Amazing. Montana State had Nevada's territory, which now belongs to Idaho. Idaho State has Utah State's territory. And BSU has Memphis's territory, which includes UNLV.

Wrong part of the state. Potatoes are grown in the south, primarily in the plains formed by the Snake River. Idaho is in the north, in the mountains, where they don't grow potatoes. (I don't think they grow sugar beets there, either. They're also grown in the south, along the Snake River plain.)
