West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus (WNV) is a virus of the genus Flavivirus, related to the viruses that cause Japanese encephalitis and yellow fever. The virus is transmitted by mosquitoes, mainly of the Culex genus (in particular C. pipiens), and persists in nature through a mosquito-bird-mosquito transmission cycle.
