having a phenomenal time grocery shopping this week

one of my mom's rosebushes is doing its damnedest to get in one last hurrah so, you know, balance or whatever

I thought I'd won the Graeter's gacha when I found this solid chunk of chocolate, but then there were two more nearly the same size, like three that were half that, and another few that were a quarter, which is the size I usually consider a win

a piece of chocolate about a quarter of the size of the ice cream pint lid it's sitting in, with some lighter brown (graham cracker) ice cream still attached. typically these chunks are broken up into much smaller pieces to serve as the chocolate chips in various ice cream flavors, but the process the company uses to make their ice cream means that bigger chunks slip through fairly often!

in news sadly unrelated to watching Ed Sheeran get clotheslined by the consequences of his own actions, I played the demo for this puzzle game called Oxytone where you have to connect line segments on hexagonal pieces to keep it going as long as possible, and I think I might be decent at it

a big hexagon made up of lots of smaller hexagons. on this specific board there's an outer ring of them with one or two small lines on each, designed to loop you back into the designated play area, and then the inner hexagons basically look like a loose pile of yarn threatening to tangle. most of the pile consists of a single blue line twisting and looping around on itself, with both ends connected to the blank central hexagon, but there are also like five shorter, pale yellow lines and three little rounded squares where segments were disconnected from the main line.

that's actually your device's default cursive font! if he fixes it while sticking with his chosen fonts, it would look like one of the following:

"Michael Szerencsy" in Snell Roundhand, a light and slanty cursive

"Michael Szerencsy" in Brush Script MT, a thicker cursive with mostly uniform lines

at long last I understand the true meaning of gold farming (I didn't actually let the game run for nearly three hours, I cranked the speed up to triple maybe twenty-ish minutes in and let the hordes break against my unbreakable and pristine form)

it's kind of hard to see here but I was in Mazerella for over an hour just wandering around and watching increasing numbers of grim reapers get frozen

the emotional journey these three paragraphs took me on qualifies me for another oil change

A series of issues in Apple’s web browser engine — the tech underlying all browsers on iOS — means that Apple’s iCloud Private Relay tool, which is supposed to hide a user’s IP address, in many cases doesn’t actually work. Instead, the issues mean a malicious attacker can set up a website to learn a Private Relay user’s real IP address, or that many websites have also already collected this information incidentally. The issues also impact OnionBrowser, an iOS app for browsing the web through the Tor anonymity network, the researchers who discovered the issues say.

The Private Relay leak is the second issue to recently impact Apple’s paid-for privacy products. Last month 404 Media reported a bug in Apple’s Hide My Email feature was actually revealing peoples’ real email addresses. Apple knew about that issue for more than a year before fixing it.

“In short: any website that supports, or pretends to support, passkeys can see the user’s real IP address despite having iCloud Private Relay on,” security researcher Tommy Mysk, who discovered the issue along with Talal Haj Bakry, told 404 Media.
