I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

A better question might be whether it's fair to ask questions abt whether a "product" like AI is conscious when the companies behind it wantonly destroy jobs, economies, actual conscious human beings, and the world around us

Her work looks at understanding power through the cognitive & social processes that sustain it, and we had great chats about how attention sits at the heart of this. Thanks to her & her team for their passion and for broadening my own views on how attention can be used to create equitable spaces

Our Solar System is orbiting the center of our Galaxy at about 220 km/s so in 2025 we collectively traveled something like 7 billion kilometers across the Milky Way. Once in a while, when you have a moment, it’s worthwhile to take a look around, see where you are, and appreciate how far you’ve come.

💯 When I taught 325 Cognitive Neuroscience this past term, I detailed the brilliant science that occurred in Iran, Iraq, Egypt, India, and Peru during the "Dark Ages", & students were genuinely surprised. Science was alive & thriving over this period, it's a shame textbooks don't ever showcase this
