One really particular memory reminds me of why I can do that, and it has nothing to do with being big (I am) or tough (I am not). When I was in the Atlanta airport at about 14-15 years old, my dad and I were on the escalator behind a man who was being really aggressive with a woman.

Honestly, it’s as simple as saying, “knock it the fuck off” or “we don’t do that here” and then not backing down. You may have to tell someone to shut the fuck up a few times after that, but standing your ground does wonders. Most people really don’t want to get into with someone who is serious.
