exciting. my new acquisition is on top, and you can see the number of golden tips and length of the leaves compared to even my imperial grade in the middle or premium grade at the bottom

three grades of keemun tea, with the best one on top. the number of golden tips difference and quality of the leaves is acutely visible

I discovered this painter, Cornelius Kruseman, and I'm obsessed because this guy invented anime in the Netherlands in 1812 or something. Check out these eyes, this unusual, contemporary, approachable style. Draw Jesus like one of my yaois.

"Italiaanse vrouw met kap". What an unusual lighting approach for this portrait! He was doing some very interesting things in this time period...

"Kop van Christus", a loose sketch of Jesus that could have been drawn TODAY for Saint Young Men

"Portret van de violist Charles de Beriot". This is the dandiest man in existence. His chad powers are off the charts.

"Portrait of Hendrik Merkus, Baron de Kock, Army Commandant and after 1826 Lieutenant Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies" I picked this one because there's something so natural and believable and human about how he's looking at the viewer out of this portrait.
