how can one language be so based as to acknowledge that you can't just prescribe someone else's internal experience based on your own internal interpretation of their external actions? this is absolutely wild as it's something Ive struggled with in English a lot and it's just baked into JP grammar??

The birds eat the food "delicious-seemingly" or "in a delicious-seeming way."

If this is your first time seeing this sort of pattern, it might look a little strange. The reason the narrator phrases it this way is that L is a private, internal reaction, just like うれしい or かなしい, and it's usually not possible to declare how another person feels. Instead, you say that they do something in way that seems as though they are happy or sad.

Now, of course, the only sane English translation of the above would be "She was singing happily," because in English we are allowed to surmise other people's internal states and state them as though they were facts. But in Japanese you have to be a little more careful.

Learned a valuable lesson about the GSM of paper today: I can not put up with a thin page. With this discovery this brand new journal I was so impressed with initially by the numbered pages and dedicated section for contents in the front I no longer have a use for after writing only a single page.

The second page of a grid-dotted journal. The pages are 80 GSM so the writing from the front of the first page bleeds through strongly onto the second, thoughouthly cluttering the presentation of the new page. A single line is written on the back before the writer decided it was too much to handle and gave up on the book altogether.

packing up to move again seems like a good time to check in with the state of the game! (collection)! these are all the physical games I've decided to keep and take with me wherever I go for some reason or another. rate my taste?

OCR could probably read the titles, except for Dead Rising which is in a blank box so I put the disk on top that may not scan well. Oh, and Oblivion, which is in a CD case previously used for the musical album "Calm Before the Storm" by Set It Off
