As I reached 40K on my new novel, I read the previous few chapters and reflected: Some days I write awesome dialogue. Other days... Not so much. 🤣 Occasionally, all my characters sound like moody teens in a high school cafeteria arguing about a shared crush. (That was totally yesterday's effort) 😁

I try to switch between new words on one project and editing another. 🙂

A week on from my initial "word challenge weekend" and I'm now 22K into this new novel. 🎉 It's nice to write fantasy for a change after so much SciFi 😁 #amwriting

How annoying! Hmm... If you've turned off the "correct as I type" setting too then that's a mystery 😕

You could teach it "skyrock" is a valid word (via the right click menu) and it'll get added to the dictionary.

My little weekend word count challenge yielded 11,000 words! 😁 #writingcommunity #amwriting

Love giving myself little word count challenges. 🙂

Sometimes when I get stuck on a detail in my writing I pull these out. Even if they don't solve the issue fully, they always get my writing brain working! #amwriting #thestoryengine

Out writing at a bar with friends on a balmy Sunday. Pure awesomeness. #amwriting

I've been giving feedback on a friend's novel and it was so much fun. I really love reading an already great book and being excited to see the next version. 🙂

Can someone explain why photographers mob celebrities at airports? They rarely get "good" pics of anyone and the celebrities always look tired / miserable. Has always seemed weird to me 🤷🏽‍♀️

Time to shake things up 😂 My pants have been sitting around, unloved for too long so time to deploy the vortex mixer!

Just went back to my day job this week and everyone keeps asking me how my break was... I want to reply "Good. 30K of editing good." but that's insufficient to express my glee to non-writers. 🤣

I've got to the middle of the novel I'm currently editing and have run out of steam. As this novel only seems to possess my brain at Christmas (no idea why), will I have to wait 12 months before I work on it again? 😂 Good thing I have another WIP to work on! #amwriting 💙📚🪐

Sometimes a novel you're working on can feel like running through treacle. Enter my current WIP. Yet, when I checked, I found I was already a quarter of the way through the draft! I try not to obsess over word count, but sometimes you need to check if the treacle is an illusion. #amwriting 🪐📚💙

This same week in 2022 I was ambushed by a novel demanding to be written. Unruly things that they are! Right now, I'm editing that same novel. Because apparently this book will only show up at Xmas demanding attention. 😂 📚🪐💙 #writing #amwriting #authors

From grey plastic to fully painted! Ancient Leshan is a cool mini from one of the Witcher sets for Umatched. So much fun to paint!

Three panels, one showing an unpainted player piece and two showing the painted front and back views. The mini is of a tree spirit with a miss cloak and deer skull head.

It's amazing how much news I don't see since the death of newspapers. I realised this the first time I had no idea who was playing - used to see so much on the front page displayed at the newsstand or someone reading on the train! 🤣

I'm excited to almost have another book out. 😁 Yes, proofing is almost done on my sci-fi noir novel! Here's a taste: "If the back of her hand hadn't worn the proud, fresh lines of a rival clan's tattoo, he might just have made her his enforcer. Instead, after a time, he'd made her a friend."
