Scala 3.x in the metabuild. sbt 2.x adopts Scala 3.x for its own codebase and the metabuild (currently 3.8.4), updating from Scala 2.12, which has maintenance implications for both the toolchain and plugins. Speaking of which, sbt 2 already has 108 plugins: index.scala-lang.org/search?platf...

Client-server by default. When the `sbt` runner detects an sbt 2.x build, it will now launch the native sbtn client by default. If you want, this allows you to use your system shell, instead of sbt's own shell, without reloading the build. sbtn launches a fresh JVM for run (client-side run)

released treehugger.scala 0.5.0, featuring Scala 3 cross building and thread-safety bug fix, both of which were contributed I've also put a fresh coat of paint on the docs by switching from Pamflet to mdoc + mdBook eed3si9n.com/treehugger/ #Scala
screenshot of treehugger.scala introduction page

I heard you like code, so...
treehugger lets you treat Scala code as data (case classes), and data as code (treehugger DSL) so you can code while you code.

For example, here's treehugger DSL for Hello World:

import treehugger.forest._, definitions._, treehuggerDSL._

val tree: Tree = Predef_println APPLY LIT("Hello, world!")
// tree: Tree = Apply(
//   Ident(TermName("println")),
//   List(Literal(Constant("Hello, world!")))
// )

treeToString(tree)
// res0: String = "println(\"Hello, world!\")"
The result of the tree shows the structure, and treeToString(tree) shows the Scala source code represented by the tree.

as a treat to a work travel, I got myself a paperback of 'Slow Gods' (2025) by Claire North I've just read part 1 so far, but I'm enjoying it. I think of 'Alien' as what if 'Star Wars' was real. viable space travel would be so risky, it would be a working class thing.
