The first Men in Black film was in 1997!? Now I'm fairly certain the student I emailed this gif to won't understand the reference

How are folks here on Bluesky handling these accounts? Is it a simple block? Or is there some other button/ link I should be clicking? I’d really rather the account not show up as even a “follower”

This week: get the ERA moved to the next step

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action on publishing the Equal Rights Amendment, which has been fully ratified since 2020 yet remains uncertified. This delay in constitutional recognition of gender equality is not merely a procedural oversight—it represents a profound failure to protect the fundamental rights of over half our population. The consequences of this omission become more apparent and devastating with each passing day, as we witness continued erosion of women's rights and protections across the nation.

The ERA's importance cannot be overstated. Its publication would provide crucial constitutional grounds for challenging sex-based discrimination, offer a clear framework for judicial review, and establish a foundation for progressive legislation advancing gender equality. The amendment's absence leaves a dangerous void in our constitutional framework, one that has been repeatedly exploited to undermine women's rights and perpetuate systemic inequities. Recent electoral developments have only heightened the urgency of enshrining these protections in our Constitution, as the political landscape grows increasingly hostile to gender equality initiatives.

With mere months remaining in your term, you have both the authority and the moral obligation to instruct the U.S. Archivist to certify and publish the ERA. This single action would fulfill the will of the states that have ratified the amendment and honor the decades of struggle by Americans who have fought for constitutional equality. The continued delay in publishing the ERA not only defies democratic principles but also signals a troubling willingness to compromise on fundamental human rights. I urge you to complete this vital process—our democracy cannot claim to uphold equal justice while deliberately excluding women from its highest legal protections.

The time for procedural delays and political calculations has long passed. We need decisive action to secure these fundamental rights before …

Since the task is so algorithmic, I thought generative AI could handle APA formatting of a webpage better; it missed the author's name and confabulated the date published. #AcademicWriting

Pre-2022 and the growth of generative AI, students in my #CognitivePsychology course had a recurring assignment with each chapter, "Make It Stick," modeled after the Brown, Roediger, and McDaniel (2022) book of the same name. #AcademicSky
You've read the assigned chapter, and now you need to think about the material by either recalling it, or applying it. This elaborative practice will help your brain hold on to the information, or make it stick.

Directions
Answer the numbered prompts for a total of 400-words. Students enrolled in the Honors course have an extra question for each chapter which can be answered in an additional 75-words.

All students will also respond to the "Interleaving" prompt, which refers to a previous chapter’s material. The response to the interleaving question will be another 75-words, approximately.

Reminders: do not include your name on the document; do not include the text of the prompts in the final document but do use the correct prompt numbering; do convert to a PDF and upload to Canvas.

Psychology is ‘the scientific study of human thought and behavior’. In your own words, what is cognitive psychology?
Briefly, what is the difference between structuralism and functionalism in psychology?
Section 1.3 lists common subdivisions of psychology; in college, each would be a separate, semester-long course. Which seems most interesting to you, and why?
Interleaving: Recall your summer readings for psychology, and share one thing that still stands out in your memory from that assignment.
Honors: A cognitive psychologist, a psychoanalyst, and a social psychologist are brought in by college preparatory to create a program to engage in racial justice. How would each person explain the reason for racial inequity? What specific plan of action would they advise?

I am near the end of my tolerance for Elsevier's Mendeley reference manager. It is now costing me more time than finding/ setting-up an alternative. BLERG And this freeze is the result of a lark: not even a paper I need, just a paper I was looking at to procrastinate #AcademicWriting

I'm not the mental health-kind of psychologist, and this all still hits hard. I absolutely hate to see the health of Americans imperiled by what may be willful ignorance at best and active deception at worst

"Blerg," Liz Lemon. #AademicWriting is harder when your citation manager isn't cooperating. For me, Elsevier's Mendeley is an exercise in the sunk-cost fallacy…
