Over on another social network I've been encouraging techie types to indulge in bad art so I thought I'd do it here too. One of my favourite hobbies these days is making bad art. It's how I remember I'm human. Remember you're human, whatever else life makes you do.

Spotted while wandering Brussels. I didn't realise this was here.
A street sign for Place Jo Cox. It's just next to as pride mural, only a tiny bit of which is in shot, but what there is radiates happiness.

Beautiful railway bridge of the Silv'ry Tay!

I meant to be asleep but, well, it's nearly Christmas, the coursework is graded, and this is just where we are now. #latenightalbumclub
Side 2 of 4 of Dylan's Blonde on Blonde lined up and ready to go. Currently listening to I Want You. I am unlikely to stay awake beyond the end of "Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again" but let's see how it goes.

I'll probably wimp out. I see it's criticising my punctuation. It might have a point but I'm not going to let a computer tell me what to do. (Okay, maybe I will. This time.)
Editing my email signature. It says "Tempted to use generative AI to reply? Please think of the environment. and send me the prompt you were going to use instead". It's also criticising my punctuation use.

I would not have expected these three things together in a mainstream bookshop...
Computers for seniors, and Beginner's step-by-step coding course. And, sandwiched between them, Introduction to Coalgebra by Bart Jacobs, because of course it is.

Slightly different look for the Duke of Wellington today
The equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow. Usually he has a traffic cone on his head but today it's a pigeon reading a newspaper.

The pigeon, naturally, has a cone on its head.

I found a record I've been looking for. Yay! A previous owner filled in the dot to dot on the fun pages, but the crossword remains unsolved.
Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick", the LP version with the fold out newspaper. Proper album art!

It's a shame I'm in bed and asleep because it means I'm missing out on Late Night Album Club which tonight involves Bob Dylan and All The Saxophones. But I don't know that because I'm in bed and asleep.
A turntable with a record sleeve next to it. The LP is Street Legal by Bob Dylan. On the album cover Bob is looking suspiciously to his left. Which, in this room, means he's inspecting my bookshelf. As all visitors should.

Sadly Mr Goldie is no longer with us but I told this story in the pub and said if I got through the song I'd just have to buy one for myself. But in the end the bar staff presented me with this.

It's time for Late Night Album club with this week's LP find. You are welcome to mock my taste as long as you do it somewhere else.

As of this week I own a turntable. Dragged kicking and screaming into the 1970s... I've just bought these in a charity shop for £1 each. I may have been overcharged. One of these things is not like the others. I just don't know which one it is.

There was a Pride event in Dundee today. I feel a bit an imposter at these although rationally I know I shouldn't. Anyway my phone camera app offered to straighten this photo (and my flag is in there :)). Definitely nothing funny about that. Oh no.
Pride flags which permanently hang at the Glass Bucket in Dundee: bisexual, progress, asexual, original pride. There are many more out of shot.

Hooray! The luthier has just brought Jones The String back from ukulele hospital. Sorry neighbours. But at least it's not a banjolele.

Well this is annoying. Jones The String, my 8 string baritone ukulele, seems to have had a mishap. Good news for people in neighbouring hotel rooms in the next couple of days I suppose.

I've spent the afternoon at a memorial/wake for a well-loved St Andrews local, where, under instruction to "wear bright colours", I was wearing this. I regret nothing, and was told it was appreciated. When I die, please do similar ridiculous nonsense for me, or I'll come back and haunt you.

This was a nice thing to see in the window of Lush while wandering today. I feel a sudden urge to buy all the bath bombs.

I have just received a new (okay, 20+ year old) toy to play with and frustratingly I have a rotten cold and therefore it's just not going to work yet... On the plus side, if the cold lingers on, I have an excuse to not go to tomorrow morning's research committee meeting.

If you've never been to Fife, this is basically what it looks like at the minute, if my typical commute is representative.

What (if anything) do people use for organising academic papers for reading on an iPad these days? Ideally one that lets me read things without being online or signing into something. This one I'm not naming just earned itself an instant NOPE.

I have questions... firstly, is there a version I can get for my non-binary partner? Secondly, and more importantly, if headphones are gendered, is there something I've misunderstood all these years? Have I been using them wrong? (If you have an answer, please be assured that I Don't Want To Know)
