We’re crushed to hear that Catherine O’Hara has left us. Horror fans know her work in BEETLEJUICE and THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (as well as a memorable appearance in TALES FROM THE CRYPT), but her body of creativity beyond genre is an epic one. Our condolences to all who loved her.

In a poll of over 7,000 members, 97% of retail workers are calling for large stores to be closed on Boxing Day. Retail staff deserve a decent break over the festive period - we want to see stores close on Boxing Day going forward to give shopworkers some much-needed time off.

David Copperfield, The ominous River by Phiz.

The image depicts the River Thames near the London docklands, a recurring symbol of both mystery and menace in Dickens’s novels.

Rendered in delicate line work and shadowed crosshatching, the river dominates the foreground, dark and still, bordered by ragged boats, leaning piers, and warped structures shrouded in fog. The water’s surface reflects the silhouettes of ships and industrial detritus, while in the distance, indistinct human figures suggest clandestine activity or silent tragedy.

The apartments in Crouch End had been vacant for over a decade. Though they looked lovely from the outside, no one expected them to be sold or rented at all.
Rumor has it that the whole area had been built on top of a Druid sacrificing grounds.
In 2013, a scandal broke out in the area. A whole building went up in flames overnight. Investigations showed that the apartments had been built with flammable material instead of flame-repellent. It was a catastrophe.
Those who still prayed to Crom Cruach knew how he liked a good sacrifice.
