the only non-negotiable for writing is you have to read. doesn't matter if you're writing comics, prose, screenplays. read. read books, articles, scripts, comics. fiction and non-fiction. read lots of 'em and never stop reading.

I love how distraction free it is and how many writing specific features it has, like putting a flag down to come back to something later, custom covers, drop caps, etc. also it’s completely free and open source

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 1444: Don't waste time trying to identify trends. Publishers have whole departments to do this, and are still routinely surprised by "surprise bestsellers." Instead, write what you love, and hope other people will love it, too...
