Vocabulary word: muselet A muselet is the little cage around the cork on a bottle of champagne. (It’s pronounced “mew-suh-lay” or “wire thingy.”) It was created in the form we use today in 1844 The term comes from the French word that means to muzzle. #EditorsNote

Vocabulary word: The dot above the lower-case letters “I” and “J” is called a tittle. Examples: I’ve got letter stickers for that word, but I dropped the tittle in the carpet and I can’t find it. Isn’t that cute how she made the tittle a paw print? #EditorsNote

Editing bit: more than one octopus The plural of octopus is octopuses. If “octopus” were a Latin word, the commonly and erroneously used plural “octopi” might be correct, but “octopus” is a Greek word. Example: I like octopuses so much that I bought this dress. I call it “frocktopus.” #EditorsNote
