The photo shows part of a beautiful exhibition at St. George's Church, Millom, to mark the 70th Anniversary of the marriage of the poet Norman Nicholson to schoolteacher Yvonne Gardner on July 5th 1956. Yvonne was a talented, creative and supportive partner to Norman, enabling so much of his work!

There's an exciting exhibition at Wordsworth Grasmere, inspired by the Wordsworths trips to South Cumbria, and it also references the work of Norman Nicholson. 'Sparkling Waters of Morecambe Bay' by Kate Tame is a beautiful example of this. See our website for full details: www.normannicholson.org

The lower quarter of Christine Boyce's stained glass masterpiece: the Norman Nicholson Memorial Window. The colours are predominantly reds, yellows and blues and are reflected by the sun onto the sandstone window jambs. The images in the window are close to abstract but also include a bee orchid and other wildflowers. There are waves visible with white crests and a stylized rainbow. A simple jar of wildflowers stands at the foot of the window.
