I have a friend who is working on a foldable, collapsible 3d printed version.

I wish I wasn't allergic to soju. It made my trip to Japan/Korea less fun than it should have been.

The parts I love are "who elected you?" Like, bitch it's called a conclave. And "you're not an influencer"... Like who has more followers than who here?

I feel like there should be additional surprise criteria based on jerseys? Like bonus for game worn vs replica, or hierarchy based on conference or something?

Sure you'd benefit, but the people who really need that education are sadly the ones most resistant to learning any of those lessons.

The other biggest part is being aware of the source of inspiration. Are you taking ideas and practices from those actual cultures, or from media -about- those cultures made by outsiders.

And also how do you integrate those similarities without leaning on colonialist/eurocentric/supremacist tropes and stereotypes? If roving wolves are turned into stereotype Romanni or Mongolians, that's not an improvement?

The YouTube channel Horses does not miss. Sometimes they can be a hard watch, they frequently cover difficult subjects. Today's new video was a great comfort to me. youtu.be/QzqDgQb6ou0?...

Working on a secret (for now) project last night, listening to podcasts that are kind of depressing about people who could never imagine the kind of creativity & dedication it took to work on it.

It must be terrifying knowing that your pilot isn't in to underage girls like you and all your friends... Somehow.

Oooohh! I thought you were doing Denver to there. Very different, much more doable, but still drive safe.

000

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Huh. I thought Nashville would be farther. Dallas is a 12 hour day, and I've soloed that before.

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Woof! Stay safe, I hope you have another driver to switch off with?

Can we also ban founder class shares that let ass hats run companies into the ground without risk of getting canned?

Ugh. We were delayed for about 15-20 minutes on the way to the airport last week because someone on the train was having a bad trip. Really stressed me out.

Damnit that just immediate triggered memories

Yeah, you should be able to just select the table from top row down down and select filter and then that column can be sorted out filtered at will.

I am once again reminded of halftime at an NFL game where the announcer said "It's time to strap kids to livestock and call it entertainment." Which then proceeded to happen on the field.

My right lat is completely busted after a bike crash. This is triggering! :-(

Huh. I wonder if it's worth going back to look at my 4th edition cards.

As someone who has been more or less forced into management, lately I've been confronting a string of communication & feedback challenges, there's definitely a see saw between exasperation and empathy, and when to employ each in response.

FR As Ed Sheeran, he has enough money to say "Macklemore stays on the bill or the event is cancelled", and unless his lawyers are absolute trash, his contract should hurt the venues more than him/his crew. Especially if the venues are the ones making demands.

Wow that's lucky! Congrats on a great experience. My first viewing was a VHS on a small dorm tv, that must have ruled on a big screen.

Bonus points for primarily audio content that I can use as work background noise.

Ugh. My headspace has been bad this week, my husband has been sick for two weeks now, and I got bad family news. My YouTube algorithm is fucked with politics, economics and anti AI things. While I am overall supportive of this, I need a switch up. Any recommendations for nice positive channels?

Yeah, I fondly remember the six whole hours before seeing the country collectively descend into violent hatred of brown people, all assumed to be terrorists. That 'bond' was very much not for 'all'.

Exactly. And the whole sports scholarship system in total is just a fucking nightmare that got glued onto the American education system for dystopian economic reasons.

There are Nordic countries that ban scores/results for youth sports up to a certain age. It lets kids develop at their own rate without this crazy early filtering for "talent".

God, the second I posted that and realized how untrue 'being there for people is free' is, but not actually in the monetary sense. For people for whom that is the barrier cost, yeah maybe stay on the other side.

030

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

For real if I run into someone who legit thinks that I probably don't want to share the hobby with them? Sure online fomo is a thing, but imagination and being there for people is free, you know?

When I was doing solder work on little PCBs, having a very fine solder made it a lot easier to control how much solder got added.

010

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

It's a good idea to just practice tinning wires, since that's cheap, and once that's easy, start doing solder joints on the practice board.

000

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Also, you don't have to go crazy on getting tools, but the absolute cheapest isn't doing you any favors. That goes for the iron, flux and solder.

110

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

It's something that requires practice and steady hands, but it's not that hard. Get lots of extra supplies to practice on before using the real board.

If it's good, it's basically like a coke float or root beer float? Though I can imagine that diet and McDonald's creamer didn't combine particularly well.

000

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

While they'd obviously have more time, it still creates a lot of 'only one person knows this' trouble when it comes time to actually manage the event.

010

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

It's also super hard because "just pay someone" isn't a full answer, because it would likely be a part time job, not necessarily enough to live on. And even for someone like a chair/exec, if it was enough to quit their day job, that just puts even more onto one single person.

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

And I really wonder how similar the groups of people who care enough about their health to get the vaccines regularly are to the groups that don't. I mean, I'm sure they created cohorts and all, but what other level of variables just aren't possible to eliminate?

001

Editor Buck, AKA Buck Turner @editorbuck.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

I'm pretty much always thinking about something. Not sure how much I'd call it monologuing, and how much it's considering, analyzing, practicing hypothetical conversations, spiraling out of control, but I am always going on with something in my mind.

Surprised I didn't spot anything from Horses on the list. He can be a tough watch, but his writing is excellent. I was scrolling fast, but also Jose Maria Luna is a good channel worth checking out.
