i’m reading a book about cats who are wizards and it’s so fun. they maintain magical infrastructure in nyc. on some level, it reads as one long long joke about how seriously cats take themselves, and how outdoor cats always look like they’re taking care of absolutely mission-critical business

Their first big opportunity to put their pro-choice and queer-positive politics into practice came when they learned that the Catholic far-right organization Human Life International (HLI) had planned its annual conference in neighboring St. Paul, Minnesota, in April 1997. “As ARA Minneapolis, we decided that they fit the definition of fascism to us,” says Katrina. “They were really trying to limit the rights of women and queer people, so we decided to take them on with the same kind of energy and strategies that we were using against white supremacists.”
ARA partnered with District 202, a queer youth community center, and other activist groups. They held a queer kiss-in at the St. Paul Cathedral where HLI opened their conference (the archbishop

“of Saint Paul and Minneapolis condemned HLI).6 With this tactic, inspired by queer direct-action movement ACT UP and Queer Nation, “young queers felt excited and empowered to use public displays of affection to confront our enemies and make them uncomfortable, while we were celebrating our community. It was taking a stand, that queer couples should not be afraid and would be protected and supported,” says Katrina. “Straight ARA members, especially cis-men,” were strongly encouraged to participate. “Standing by wasn’t enough; we needed them to kiss each other, and maybe wear a dress to the action also. Confronting homophobia in the system and the streets also helped us, as a group, challenge internal homophobia and toxic masculinity, and made space for more cis male affection.” The action against HLI “went really well. It was incredibly positive.

Could someone help me understand why the Iditarod’s GPS tracker map seems to disagree with the official standings? I may be missing something, but I read the map as saying the leading 3 are Holmes-Hall-Drobny. The official standings say Holmes-Drobny-Hall. Huh? #Iditarod53 #Iditarod2025 #UglyDogs
