Today is perfect weather for editing art zines at home. This new one's nearly ready to send to print...

Ed Firth @edfirth.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

And I also make and publish zines, with short improvised narratives stemming from my graphic novel work. FYI whilst I write about hard substances, I've never tried m3th or G! Done many other stupid things though, and probably will again.

Sometimes I write about my childhood, tho I haven't yet directly addressed what made it traumatic 🐳 This story about a man trying to get me in his car (now in jail for life) was published in the Observer when it placed 2nd in their Graphic Short Story competition (nobody was jailed for that tho)

In a queer fiction media environment that seems intent on insisting It Gets Better, I'm more interested in leaving a mark, digging into traumatic misbehaviour and bad decisions - and keeping it gay AF: not safe for work, family friendly, or sanded down and sanitised for general consumption.

Hello to all the new followers! My name is Ed and I make adult queer comics about hooking up and getting high, addiction, sexual misdemeanors - things you're not allowed to name or show on social media! Currently working on my 3rd graphic novel in this series, peep them here: Www.edwardfirth.com

On Sunday I led 20 artists into the woods to draw charismatic dancer/actor Clay in the sunshine. So naturally rain started bucketing down half an hour before... But it passed in a few minutes and we enjoyed a serene creative moment in an idyllic forest glade. Video: www.instagram.com/reel/DbTp5SE...

Bought a new Japanese Fude "Sailor" fountain pen to draw Sebastian with. Do you prefer it to biro? It's wetter and blacker and I like that. See the poses and group art highlights here: www.instagram.com/reel/DbGlJ1S...

Do you ever feel like your art isn't good enough and you'll never make anything great? I do, and here's some of mine hung in the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration with some stunning pieces by the man himself, taken at the preview last night. Open to the public in Farringdon from tomorrow!

Meh. It was raining and humid and I decided to take it easy and just use pen. The charcoal one was misjudged, it was only 15 minutes, I should have worked looser. I will simply never be able to draw and that's that. Anyway see you next week: typ0.bigcartel.com/product/east...

The Spice Girls' seminal debut LP, dubbed simply "Spice" turns 30 this year, which prompts me to remind you that "G like MC, who likes it on a / Easy V doesn't come for free..." is a (confirmed!) reference to Geri enjoying sex on ecstasy. In conclusion, Wannabe is a chemsex anthem. Irresponsible!
