“Greg Abbott set the fire, watched it blaze, and now wants to put it out to get the glory.” New from @edenshamy.bsky.social: Public school closures, private school vouchers, and state takeovers have driven a wedge between many lifelong conservatives and the Texas GOP they once trusted.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to drive down to South Texas once again, where I covered Bobby Pulido as he went to quince after quince and performed alongside young musicians at Valley View High School. Read more about how he's trying to reclaim CD 15 from Rep. Monica De La Cruz.

New from @edenshamy.bsky.social: Democrats once again insisted, at their convention, that 2026 would be their best shot at flipping Texas. At times, the conditions almost mirror 2018 when the last blue wave turned out to be little more than a message written in the sand at the top of the ballot.
