I see your point, but that's who *you* want to see on the ballot - people who seem at least somewhat competent or moderate even though you'd rather not vote for them. I think what MAGA wants is something very different, and that they'll turn out for whoever excites them most on an emotional level.

MAGA loves him which gives him a head start. If he were to run for the GOP nomination in 2028 he'd have a good shot. You and I wouldn't vote for him, but why do you think others wouldn't? Compared to who, in the GOP?

Again if you go back and read about the interwar period Hitler and Mussolini were also not taken seriously for a long time. And I've long held the view that centrists just couldn't imagine that Trump would win, or would turn out like he has.

The post-nut clarityis going to be pretty ugly. I'm not writing that for a cheap laugh; I think a lot of the blood thirst around executions is rooted in psychosexual aggression.

I think about this 1932 image of Goering and Himmler a lot, because it's a good reminder that looking like a ridiculous clown is absolutely no barrier to becoming a genocidal monster. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you wouldn't have believed our current politics back in the mid 2010s either.

Quite. Much of Europe's refugee crisis and the consequent social dislocation was caused by the so-called War on Terror; a cynic might say this side-effect was was a foreseeable and desired by-product.

'crack down on foreign enrollment' is enrollment in a university some kind of crime? Your editorial standards have gone to pot over the last few years. For shame.

Weird how you exhibit skeptical neutrality on statements by foreign governments but uncritically report the statements of domestic authorities as fact.

This is just bad graphic design in general rather than a specific editorial intereference. You can see the same thing on a smaller reader poll attached to an anti-EU opinion article.

Damn if only there were a group of people that could do something about it within the scope of the Constitution, I wonder what that would be like I guess we'll never know

I would love if you would do transcripts of these. Many people are not into hour-long podcasts, but it's very wasteful for thousands of people to do whisper transcriptions vs doing it once at source

That way you can still keep track of what he says each week, without the humiliation ritual of reporting every BS claim word-for-word as if they held substance. We all know the repetition is just a device to keep himself in the headlines, which you and other news outlets milk for clicks.
000
The Book of the Void @eddyrobinson.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
This is approaching some actual journalism. Since he keeps repeating the same BS as a habit or social tic, have you considered just having bar charts of his top 10 or line charts of his top 5 claims? eg instead of 'Trump claims Iran war win again', 'Trump victory claims +17% this week.'

Rather than just closing each episode, from the beginning it's been edited in ways that track the story beats and set it apart from other anime. All I can say is start from part 1 and you'll hear why it hits so differently. bsky.app/profile/thed...

I'm pretty sure most of it is in the bag already, but the ED failure might be a dark sign for the future. Definitely feels like David Productions was overruled by bean counters.

This is an important thing that matters if you're a fan, going back to the very first episode in 2012 or longer for the manga. Most of the characters have musically coded names signaling what Araki was into when he drew the story. You gotta trust the fans on this one.

Kinda surprised a sportsball team owner was trying to get a happy ending for only $160 instead of hiring a platinum-tier escort Being known as a cheapskate is probably going to socially hurt him more than the $500k fine

I don't think gas station pharmaceuticals in general are a good idea and I'm perplexed about why they seem almost completely unregulated, but it's also pretty ridiculous to charge store clerks instead of whoever manufactured/distributed the stuff

OK, so what are you going to DO if Democrats win a majority next moxt month and control a new Congress in January? Put some cards on the table. I've been asking you what your position is on impeachment for your whole term and you've never responded once.

To be clear this doesn't apply to all Dems, there are some outstanding progressive candidates and competence and ethics are just as important as a big vision. But I want to hear bold proposals for change, real audits of govt failures, an agenda beyond 'we're not those guys.'
000
The Book of the Void @eddyrobinson.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I'm worried they're making the same mistake as 2024 where they win but not with enough of a majority to really make change, and then the pendulum swings back to the GOP. Voters want a party that leads, not an elected HR department without any clear goals.

The Book of the Void @eddyrobinson.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Part of the Dems' problem is the lack of leadership from Jeffries and Schumer, who've been near-silent on impeachment or articulating what their agenda will be, because they're more concerned about avoiding criticisms from the GOP than selling their policies to the public
