That was a difficult read a decade ago. Difficult, as in 'not relevant' so hard to concentrate on. Now enthralling, highly relevant and begs the question, "how is this happening?"

Having just 'won' the Duma elections are we not yet to see a full mobilisation? Shahed's are now rocket powered at over 400km/h, Belarus is helping long range FPV drones and energy infrastructure destruction has started early ahead of winter. .

There's €300bn of locked up Putin cash in Belgium. That should be funding Ukraine weapons R&D. The Belgian gov't are cowards of the highest order having repeatedly vetoed it's release. Any argument against this is appeasement of Putin's psychotic world view...IMHO

With Iran escalating because they want Washington out of the region and can now use proxies and leverage (because without boots on the ground Trump is fucked) and given DJT has proved he's an unreliable ally, maybe not surprising that states which relied on US are now trying to project strength?

APPLEBAUM: There’s a long debate about whether Ukraine should be in NATO. It’s a moot point. I would much rather see new set of security alliances that automatically include Ukraine. Because Ukraine has the best military technology now, maybe in the world, definitely in Europe.

I find it truly enthralling that a pileon is being instigated by the leader of a progressive party here, especially when it could be seen as trying to make political capital over the death of a black man. I'd like to know, given the perverseness of the press, what alternative PM's might say.

Anyone who's been paying attention for the last decade doesn't need to be told what's wrong with the media ecosystem. My guess is that when you're a new PM with saving the country on your plate, ignoring the shouting twats might not be a bad idea.

Unlike the tragic hounding of David Kelley or Caroline Flack, the first driven by international politics and Iraq, the second by celebrity culture and reality TV, the persecution of Jason Arday was driven by far right culture wars and billionaire spite. It’s that simple

Buzzing the tower with ego driving was a demonstrably bad idea 40 years ago. It would seem the authors of 'project: what has two awesome thumbs and absolutely no scooby doo of a plan' have reached their 'while Rome burns' moment.

If you start to dig into that sentiment (which I wholeheartedly agree with) aren't you left with the feeling that the rise of populist politics is not being met head on by progressives? Why can't 'we' achieve what 'hate' manages to achieve so easily? Why does digging into a vague imagined past work?

Next I get a text from EE telling me my phone ONLY WORKS IN THE EU. I check my tariff and I am still being charged to roam there. So, does my phone not work outside the EU? How is my phone aware it's not in the EU?

I find this deeply cynical and when we were promised that leaving the EU wouldn't change our free roaming there. I return from a trip to an EU country to find I have huge extra charges on my EE bill. I put it down to my own tardiness, dismissing the charge notification text on landing there. 1/2

🚨The UK-US pharma deal with Trump will cost 229,000 lives in England. The deal is so bad that the editor of the British Medical Journal says it suggests "We’ll kill our poor people to make your rich companies richer”. Dear Andy Burnham, tear up this deal as Prime Minister. Thank you.
A graphic with pictures of Trump and Burnham, a Guardian headline screenshot that says "US-UK drug deal would result in 229,000 excess deaths in England, analysis suggests", and a demand that Andy Burnham "show Trump the red card and tear up the pharma deal"
