Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 07/03/2025Latest lunch break oil pastel with the reference. I usually avoid structures, but I gave this bridge a shot. 010
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 07/03/2025A little project has been good for my soul this week. 000

Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 24/01/2025Winter oil pastels. At least the ones that turned out decent. 040
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 21/01/2025This oil pastel of Lake George, NY was fun to work on. 030
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 12/01/2025My white and dark blue sticks were slippery stumps for this one. More pastels are coming in the mail though! 020
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 09/01/2025Pay attention to the legislation, not just the unhinged stuff. open.substack.com/pub/heatherc... 000
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 07/01/2025There was more pink in the sky of the subject but the orange I blended in decided to dominate. 150
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 24/12/2024Different versions of the same subject. The sky has a mix of purple and blue and when I ran out of blue I went more purple. 010
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 23/12/2024A few pastels that I made during my lunch breaks. They do pile up over time. 020
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 14/12/2024This Skee ball project has pushed me to the limit of my ability and forced me to learn new things like how to use a circle jig for a router. It takes me much longer than I expect, but there is real progress most days. 000
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 13/12/2024Making a simple Skee ball table at home. Did not anticipate how much dust the router would create! 010
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I copied a more detailed pastel and made a looser oil pastel version. The line between sloppy and loose isn’t always easy to find. 140
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 02/12/2024One of the challenges of oil pastel landscapes is the moment when you realize you’ve represented the clouds pretty accurately, but you need to add a little something to give them more depth… and you aren’t sure what that something is. 010
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 28/11/2024Happy Thanksgiving! m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81k... 010
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 27/11/2024I’m perhaps a little extra, but I try to plan a little bit for my time off. Making some time for art, prayer, a walk, a woodworking project, or whatever else can be tricky with so much to do and so many distractions available. I keep my art up at home and work as a reminder of what I love. 030
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 25/11/2024The funny thing about learning oil pastels is that I realized I needed to learn how to draw first. So I did a lot of landscapes to practice distance and perspective. I also hate drawing rocks. So this one has it all. 020
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 24/11/2024This oil pastel from a few years ago isn’t my favorite, and I can see a lot I’d want to improve, but I was learning to play with light and shadows on snow. It was a step forward, and I keep it up on my wall at work as a reminder to stretch myself, even if pastels are just for fun. 140
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 23/11/2024I made this sunflowers few years ago by following a YouTube tutorial for cray pas pastels. I don’t think I could have come close to making this without a little direction. 040
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 22/11/2024It’s been good to stretch myself by attempting copies of art I like. Where do you draw the line between impressionist and sloppy shortcut? Following someone else’s example helps sort that out. 030
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 21/11/2024We vacation in upstate New York each summer, and I take sunrise and sunset pictures as often as I can to use as subjects for the rest of the year. Although they do remind me to pause and enjoy the sunset as often as I can. 040
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Each day I take about 20 minutes of my lunch break to work on an #oilpastel drawing. It’s a key part of maintaining my mental health, keeping me grounded in in sticks, pigments, and textured paper. It’s also fun. Here is one based on a Land Between the Lakes picture. #art 0260
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 19/11/2024This is one of my favorite #oilpastel that I have in my cubicle at work. It reminds me to get out in the sunshine whenever I can. #art 130
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 18/11/2024I can’t get over how my son’s tortoise just stands on top of his lettuce like he just made a kill. 030
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 16/11/2024Todays work in progress: A smaller version of a personal favorite from Sea Isle City, NJ. 140
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 16/11/2024I only do oil pastel landscapes, but my kids asked me to try making a sea turtle. It felt like a total fiasco, but a blending stick helped smooth out my mistakes. I guess I’ll try again sometime soon! #art #oilpastel 1110
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 15/11/2024No matter what happens I. The days ahead, keep making time for silence and creating. They feed your soul well. 090
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 14/11/2024In 2017, I started drawing with oil pastels as a mental health break after the devastating election results. It was one of my best decisions, and I look forward to at least 20 minutes of creative time every day. #oilpastel #art 040
Ed Cyzewski @edcyzewski.bsky.social · 13/11/2024The drawing on the left is from a few years ago with my Gallery set. The one in the right is with my Sennalier set. I tried to match the colors but also embraces how vibrant the Sennalier colors are. #oilpastel #pastel #art 000
