But if the glass is half empty, it's also half full. Chips and AI buildout stocks are looking promising, with AMD and Sandisk in buy areas. The SMH ETF is back above its 50-day line, albeit not decisively. Software remains strong and many biotechs are interesting. 3/3

The problem is that the Nasdaq hasn't maintained that late-week strength into the start of the following week. Also, the Nasdaq has made lower highs & lower lows over the past month, stuck below a trendline going back to the June 1 peak. 2/

Tesla expands robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston, joining Austin and the San Francisco Bay area. Details scarce. It's another big week for earnings, with Tesla, GE Vernova, Boeing, Lam Research, Interactive Brokers, Intel are among the dozens of interesting names. Many are in/near buy zones/early entries, but the upcoming results raise the risks. 7/

If you're now heavily/fully exposed, it's more about positioning your portfolio - concentrating in winners w/o getting *too* concentrated in a particular group/theme. Keep working on watchlists but also have your exit strategies in hand. 6/

While there's risk to buying on a FTD, there's also risk from waiting until the news is unambiguously good. With the markets at highs and the Nasdaq on its best win streak since 1992, many leaders are gone and the rally is "due" for a pullback. 5/

Ultimately it's the market reaction that matters. There were reasons to be skeptical when the rally began but this is why it's important to start adding exposure when there's a follow-through day - April 8 this time - regardless of the headlines/personal doubts. 4/

The shift in Iran news - keep in mind that the two-week ceasefire ends on Wednesday - could impact stock futures & oil prices on Sunday evening. But during the war, bad news has often come on the weekend, only for Trump comments/positive headlines to come before Monday's open. 3/

Stocks soared and oil dived - esp. on Friday - as Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz "open." But - psych! - Iran's military says Saturday that Hormuz is still under its "strict control." At least two ships were fired upon. 2/

Biden was perceived as a relative moderate. He won (albeit amid Covid). Clinton and Harris were *not* seen as moderates. Ofc., Clinton was not a good candidate. Harris had a tough road for obv reasons. Despite Trump being very unpopular, voters still have a very negative view of Dems.

Hungary's opposition coalesced around Magyar, a conservative/populist and former Orban ally, because the parties decided that beating Orban trumped everything else. There's a lesson there for Democrats.

Trump has expressed a wide range of opinions. On Monday morning, he threatened to attack Iran's civilian infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz doesn't open. But he's also suggested the the strait's status isn't that important and a problem for others. 2/2

FWIW - Bitcoin initially tumbled on the U.S.-Iran attacks but has reversed higher as Trump said Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has likely been killed, corroborating several reports citing Israeli or U.S. officials. A Dow futures indicator, off >1% at one point, is now flat.

Well, you see, this is the war to end all wars.

Obviously, market reactions aren't the biggest news! I'll update some basic headlines on Iran, but there will be much better coverage at @wsj.com and elsewhere.

Don't forget about memory stocks. Sandisk is the S&P 500's top performer in 2026, but SNDK has been consolidating for a few weeks along with WDC, STX and MU. They don't have bases yet, though Western Digital has a 4-weeks tight. Micron earnings on March 18 could be key. 3/3

Trump has already undermined right-of-center/right-wing parties in Europe/Canada with hostile rhetoric. If an explicit pro-Orban effort fails, that'll destroy the last pockets of support.

I wasn't making a value judgment. My point is that Trump's dollar policy - which has a LOT of downsides - by itself should be spurring a surge of foreign visitors. But his policies and (often insanely belligerent) rhetoric toward allies completely undermine that.

Ironic, because Trump's sink-the-dollar policy makes Disney World a relative bargain for foreign visitors.
