Broadly a post-anarchist minus the psycho analytic gobble garble. I think we should abolish a lot of things. Pretentiously leftist ramblings and shouting into the Void.

Cars are one of the leading causes of death in many places. We‘ve accepted it because we‘ve structured our society around it. But robotaxis being "just as good as a humans" is unacceptable. Humans are terrible drivers (1+ million deaths a year). This is our chance to set standards higher.

The corners being cut on robotaxis is bleak. You want a car to recognise a cat in the dark? We have a technology for that. It‘e called a thermal camera (or lidar can help too). If your $100k robotaxi can’t afford eyes that see warm mammals, your priorities are fucked.

The writers really just have to keep making the plot more unhinged to stay relevant. SAD.

…a treasure trove of sensitive data, to apps because they put up the prompt in misleading ways. The filthiest part is it isnt even some like obscure app doing this. Most of the big names do it. Google Photos, Reddit, Canva etc. Capitalism has no shame.

If you said yes, the company now has access to every single photo. That includes nudes, passport scans, maybe a photo of your bank information, your face and that of every person close to you that you have in photos. People unintentionally give away their entire photo library…

This reminds me of another bleak IOS dark pattern that‘s been annoying me for a while. app: “download image?” app: “[Appname] would like to access your photo library” some people: yes thinking its necessary If you say no, image still downloads.

Ah but the system I live in is the normal sane baseline. The moderate, the centre. Everything else is ideology, meanwhile the system I live in is simply reality. /s

So many other apps I havent thought to remember because it’s _normalised_ which is its own hell. I guess this is the ios version of android calculator asking for your contacts. 3/3

Just clicking “allow” fast to make it go away, like some people reflexively do, can easily give things like passwords or very private info away. I’ve noticed this on many apps, for example Reddit and GLM (the LLM). 2/3

The most obscene dark pattern im seeing these days on ios apps is you open a random app then you get a pop-up “[Appname] would like to paste from [App you were just using]” You didn’t paste in the app. There’s no reason it has to see what you copied last. But it asks it. 1/3

Google Earth has tricked us into thinking the earth is observable, legible. That’s there’s a god’s eye view. LIES. It’s really fucking cloudy up there. Unless you have infinite patience to wait till the clouds move. The earth is just a cloudy blue marble.

Everyone calling ICE “law enforcement” is playing right into their hands. Giving it credibility. This isn’t law enforcement, it’s state mafia, power, hierarchy enforcement.

Authoritarianism in “Liberal Democracies”: In France, you can be fined for whistling during the national anthem in some sports games. If committed as part of an organised group, this goes up to 6 months in prison.

I hate the debate on “is it really genocide” or “just” crimes against humanity. If you spend more energy trying to claim it doesnt count as genocide than learning about it and trying to help end the atrocity. Then you’re effectively complicit.

Definitely reveals a lot of the conditioning of defaultism and gender biases. Once you’ve got past that stage, watch more women’s sport, and let yourself create a new territory in your head, not an imitation of the men’s version, but something different, with its own nuances and culture.

One of the easiest way to reveal your brains inner misogyny is to watch a womens version of the sport you watch all the time, and observe the thoughts that come into your head.

In asymmetric conflict, "anti-war" rhetoric condemning the violence of the conflict without addressing its causes (perhaps oppression, systemic violence, colonialism etc), can easily become a tool of the powerful/oppressor.

The choice of words, by media and politicians, of “pro-palestine” as opposed to “anti-genocide” is very deliberate.

Problematic assumption. Look at disabling chronic illness circles and you’ll see those people are some of the most woke and aware of state harm and state abuse there is. An ill population is less able to fight back, but not less likely to recognise authoritarianism. Healthist to assume that.

How have liberal leaders reacted to Israel conducting one of the most destructive wars since world war two, a genocide. They’ve maybe said they disapprove. But actions speak louder than words. They’ve been sending bombs, more bombs, weapons, intelligence, ammunition. Don’t mourn their order.

In the age of Trump, liberals are grieving the loss of what they call the “rules based international order”. While the autocratic international order is terrible, so was the manufactured consent machine with the technocratic illusion of fairness liberal nations created. Just look at Gaza.

For all the weird classical romanticising and linguistic prescriptivism in Parisian (Standard French) and English. The fact many neologisms were made modularly with greek/latin roots makes the language perhaps simpler to learn with pattern recognition.

Paid the value of the farm many times over with the cumulative rent. But they’ve never had enough money to buy it. Tenant farming doesn’t make you rich. Meanwhile distant aristocratic descendants are getting rich off these peoples rent thanks to lucky inheritance with no work required.

A good way to illustrate how ridiculous capitalist rent logic is is to take rural scotland. You have many farming families who’ve been renting the same farm since the 1700s They’ve paid centuries of rent. They’ve worked and maintained the land for 300 years. (1/2)

This isn’t immediate, we are talking about this going down in the next century or more. The problem mainly is that ice sheets take millenia to reform even if the temperatures cool again. We will probably see fragmented populations, genetic bottlenecks, and slow extinction in the wild.

What Liberal Capitalism and Corporate NGO Conservationism don’t admit, is that if we reach 2.5-3 Degrees C warming. Which is looking inevitable unless we go for growth agnosticism. Polar bears, will be extinct in the wild. No magic solution, no silver bullets. No ice = no bears. Simple as that.

This is a decimillionaire who owns hundreds of hectares of land. More than every other person in his town put together. This project is portrayed uncritically in TV series to portray him as a benevolent “steward” of the land. Greenwashing as a tool of whitewashing of land inequality.

Not Jeremy Clarkson destroying a meadow and half emptying a local stream to create a trout pond, outcompeting every pollinator by adding 250’000 commercial bees, thinning out the forest for lumber, and calling it a “wilding project”. 😭

Google photos on ios is literally a hostage situation. Remove key functionalities like copying an image or editing an image unless you give them full unrestricted access to your entire photo library. (The holy grail of surveillance capitalism data). Data extortion masquerading as a service.

(of course being an asshole is not like a simple gene, effective selection in this sense probably takes tens of thousands of years at the bare minimum, but well we are ten thousand years into hierarchical states so I don’t think the time scales are worth dismissing).

The broken system is literally genetically engineering us to be assholes. like if you were an asshole back gatherer-hunter tribes after a while youd get kicked out of your tribe and youd starve to death. there was natural selection against assholes. now theres natural selection towards them.

what kind of human does it take to be to become a leader of an oligarcho-heirarchical nation state (liberal democracy)? it self selects for assholes who use tricks and connections to get into power (and don’t even ask about who succeeds in capitalism)
