The event “From Innovation to Political Action – The Voice of Rural Women”, organised within the European project FLIARA (Female-Led Innovation in Agriculture and Rural Areas), brought together innovative rural women from across Romania, representatives of public administration, civil society organisations, and members of the Romanian Parliament for a dialogue on shaping a more sustainable and inclusive rural future.

Europe’s long-term wellbeing depends on fair and locally-driven sustainability transitions. Housing and food, our most basic human needs and the two largest household expenses, are powerful entry points for change. Yet, solutions to Europe’s housing and food challenges need to go beyond affordability to ensure sustainability and fairness amid mounting climate and geopolitical pressures.

The Final Conference of the FLIARA Project will bring together researchers, policymakers, innovation support actors, and civil society stakeholders to spotlight the critical role of women in shaping the future of rural areas and sustainable farming. Taking place during Rural Women’s Week, the conference will serve as a forum to reflect on the role of women in shaping sustainable futures in farming and rural areas.
