While South Korea vows to be a top 4 arms exporter, peace activists continue resistance, stressing that warmaking is a wrongful act. Here is my paper on the criminalisation of their resistance and its justice implications.

🏆 The Ecological Citizen has published 200 authors! 🛡️ Yang & Hwang critique #militarized 'environmental security' as harmful. They propose '#sustainability necessary work'—daily, collective eco-actions—as a path to true security for all life. #securitization ecologicalcitizen.net/pdfs/epub-13...

From today, South Korea can detain asylum seekers up to 36 months without trials and unlimited extention is allowed. Only 1 voted against, 268 in favour, out of 300 lawmakers. SK's shameful violations of the Refugee Convention continue, while it seeks leadership (?) in UN human rights institutions 😡

Throwing the whole country into political limbo, Yoon appointed Sun Young Park, "anti-communist warrior", as new head of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Korea. Once claimed the May 16 military coup was to "rebuild the nation", She officially took office today. Red-tagging continues😡

Post-martial law situation now evolves into Korea's third presidential impeachment trials. But how far this moment will be a critical juncture for the weakening leftists/progressives is in question. Self-promotion but my commentary might be worth checking to understand the withering politics in SK😮‍💨

Official! Thanks to a grant from the Insitute of Human Geography, my colleague and I can continue our research on place-based resistance against US militarism-gentrification in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. This city hosts two US military bases pivotal to Washington's pivot to Asia (K-55 and Humphreys)😀😀

South Korean customs recently captured more than a dozen of illegal wildlife traffickers, who attempted to smuggle approx. 1,800 animals including komodo dragons. While this came as a shock, it would be more shocking if told that most of these animals and plants (almost 100%) are "removed" by law..🤕
