Now actual lore. One type of robot/machine in my setting is the Ironcore. Designed by the Great House/Princedom Ironveil as an alternative to physical labor and warfare. Using Aetherium, or Aether, as a core. They weren't meant to be to be sapient. Just a tool. But then the Aether shifted--
