Who is the Philosopher?

*“Hate repeats itself because each generation convinces itself that this time it is right.”*

The Philosopher is a hell born being who thinks before he acts and doubts even his own conclusions. Unlike most entities born in Hell, he is aware of what Hell does to thought, desire, and identity. He understands that his condition shapes his instincts, and because of that awareness, he constantly questions whether his impulses are truly his own or simply products of where he was born.

He was a demon, after all. It was in his nature to be "evil", as he defined it.

This self awareness is what separates him from the rest. He does not deny Hell, nor does he embrace it. He studies it the same way one would study a disease within themselves. He wishes the best for everyone, not in a naive or idealistic way, but in a way that accepts tragedy as unavoidable while still trying to minimize its reach.

What is his purpose?

The Philosopher is a demon. By every law that governs Hell and nature; that makes him evil by definition. He was born into it and shaped by it. However, unlike most demons, he does something that Hell actively discourages. He questions himself. He examines his own motives, doubts his instincts, and reflects on whether his actions serve purpose or merely impulse. This self reflection does not make him pure or innocent, but it makes him aware, which is rare and dangerous in Hell.

The Philosopher does not define evil as violence, cruelty, or domination alone. He sees evil as actions taken without consideration of consequence. He believes that intent matters less than outcome, and that refusing to think is worse than choosing wrongly. Because of this, he constantly seeks the best possible scenario for everyone involved, even when that scenario is imperfect or painful. He accepts that harm may be unavoidable, but he refuses needless
harm.
