Sonic was kidnapped by Eggman. He doesn't know anything about the conditions of his friends currently. Amy, alive or dead, that is to be determined later chapters. Shadow was never really "dead" more like in a state where he is in a deep sleep which causes Sonic in a panic to try revive him.
